Job Summary The Office of Admissions is seeking an Admissions Advisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Recruitment, Admissions Advisors implement Oregon State University (OSU) and OSU-Cascades recruitment activities and new student programs in support of the campus enrollment goals and strategic plan. Admissions Advisors serve as a member of the recruitment team that is responsible for the planning and implementation of undergraduate, domestic recruitment. Admissions Advisors must be able to work independently, make decisions, develop plans, execute and assess programs, plan recruitment travel and monitor a budget. This position is a trained application reader as part of the admissions process where decisions directly affect enrollment, department and university goals as outlined in the strategic plan. The purpose of the Admissions Advisor position is to: 1. Serve prospective high school and transfer students, families, schools and community organizations. 2. Generate tuition revenue and affect enrollment for OSU by recruiting qualified students. 3. Support academic programs and student services. 4. Support the university goals and strategic plan.

This position requires the capability to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, a minimum of seventeen weeks per year. This position will have general marketing tasks and/or support of recruitment marketing through OSU Admissions' social media platforms, CRM platform and other electronic communications. This position will also provide everyday and special event support to the Welcome Center when necessary. Key Responsibilities 25% - EXECUTION OF RECRUITMENT PLAN:
   » Represent Oregon State University and OSU-Cascades/Office of Admissions at college fairs, high school visits, multicultural events, community colleges and other activities as needed and assigned in territory and other areas as needed and assigned.
   » Develop and maintain relationships with key Oregon State University departments and external communities and organizations to best serve all student populations.
   » Develop and maintain relationships on behalf of the university with high school and community college personnel, prospective students and their families, cultural and ethnic communities, and other influences.
   » Work frequently with Oregon State University units and is trained to promote Oregon State University and OSU-Cascades programs and services in order to attract and enroll prosperous students to the institution. Plans and conducts presentations, informational sessions, and discussions on enrollment to OSU (and OSU Cascades as needed). Supports the strategic plan and goals for a diverse and academically competitive student body through recruitment efforts.

15% - PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF RECRUITMENT PLAN:
   » Schedule recruitment and other program related activities and manages and coordinates travel arrangements to assure the effective use of resources.
   » Confirm appointments and advertise visitations to students, counselors, and others.
   » Maintain reports assessing effectiveness of activities and budgetary expenditures.
   » Independently plan and coordinates travel.
   » Make budget expenditure recommendations to the Associate Director of Recruitment.
   » Distribute mail, send out email to advertise visits, communicate with staff to coordinate packing and shipping of materials, and other necessary tasks to fulfill obligations to be prosperous in function.

15% - COUNSEL AND ADVISE PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:
   » Meet with and field questions from prospective students and their families to advise/counsel them on the admissions application process and status, requirements, deadlines, and Oregon State University programs.
   » Make appropriate referrals to Oregon State University academic units, student programs and campus life opportunities.
   » Execute presentations at high schools or community colleges on admissions application process, college essays, college resume, etc.
   » Write notes and messages to follow up with students.
   » This position requires up to date expertise of current Oregon State University policies, procedures, and personnel for referral.
   » Promote and refer students to OSU-Cascades as needed.

15% - MAJOR EVENT SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE :
   » Attend and assist with the planning of events and activities on behalf of the Office of Admissions and Welcome Center as needed and assigned.
   » Assist with logistics, planning, and organization of events.
   » Provide event coverage for key yield and reception programs and plan and host training sessions for volunteers.
   » Advise and provide feedback on programs for locations and date selections.
   » Develop surveys and assess effectiveness of programs and events.
   » Create reports for programs.
   » Pull lists, create check-in and attendance sheets, and assist with database coding.

15% - RECRUITMENT MARKETING :
   » · Provide support for the Sr. Assoc. Director for Marketing, and the Communications through collaborative maintenance and authorship of OSU Admissions' social media platforms, maintenance of the office CRM where directed, and writing/editing/execution of electronic communications when directed.

10% - ADMISSION FILE READING & SCORING:
   » Read admissions applications.
   » Provide feedback to Director of Admissions as a required part of the admission decision process and may also be considered for scholarships and Extended Admission decisions.
   » Requires professional training on the process in admissions.
   » Once trained, will read applicant files independently, attend feedback forums and participate in continuing cultural competence training.

5% - OTHER tasks AS ASSIGNED:
   » Other tasks as assigned include but are not limited to: assist with publications and website updates, help with managing social media efforts, work with volunteers, assist with training sessions and meetings, provide support for the Sr. Associate Director of Marking and Communication, Associate Director of Recruitment, and/or the Communications Coordinator on special projects, and conduct research on state and national enrollment trends.
   » This position will staff recruitment programs on and off campus, pull data and track effectiveness of programs, performs everyday office functions, file paperwork, work remotely and communicate with OSU offices, plan, and coordinate programs, serve on search committees, and participate in professional development activities.
   » This position requires the capability to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, a minimum of seventeen weeks per year.
What You Will Need
   » Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited not-for-profit college or university in discipline of choice. Bachelor's Degree must be completed by start date.
   » Minimum of 1 year of full-time professional practice in college admissions or college counseling or minimum 2 years of regular and formal work practice as an admission, financial aid, housing, college outreach, or college ambassador position that involves regular, frequent, and direct work with prospective high school and/or transfer students and their families.
   » Excellent written and oral communication expertise.
   » capability to communicate effectively verbally in front of small and large groups and to provide workshops, training and outreach programs.
   » Candidate must have technological proficiency utilizing computers and working with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point (or similar platform such as Google).
   » Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity (competency or practice working with people from various backgrounds and cultures).

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

   » Intermediate proficiency with higher ed CRM systems, e.g., Slate.
   » Intermediate HTML coding practice. Customer service and event planning practice with a strong attention to detail.
   » capability to be flexible and operate in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment.
   » Demonstrated proficiency in a second language (Spanish preferred).
   » practice in cross-cultural communication with the capability to engage Spanish-speaking audiences through the utilization of bi-literate and bicultural expertise.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Travel for extended periods and work during irregular hours broadly, including late nights, early mornings, evenings and weekends for a minimum of seventeen (17) weeks per year on a continuous and continuing basis during all seasons; including driving, flying on commercial aircraft, and overnight stays. Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.
