Minimum Qualifications· Master's degree in Speech, Human Communication, Rhetorical Studies, or the equivalent (with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in at least one or more disciplines listed above)· Teaching practice · capability to communicate effectively · Working expertise/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

Position DescriptionJob DescriptionThe Communication Faculty is a full-time, 9-month position located primarily on the Old Charlotte Highway (OCH) Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Department Chair for Arts and Humanities, the Communication Faculty provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in all curriculum programs in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations. This individual has responsibility for teaching, learning, curriculum development, student learning assessment, advising, professional development, institutional service, and community relations. Courses to be taught include Interpersonal Communication, Introduction to Communication, Intercultural Communication, and Public Speaking. Job tasks · Exhibit an uncompromising commitment toSPCCas a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core expertise and learning results, and delivery of instruction and services · Develop learning strategies and curriculum that will promote prosperous teaching and learning in a learning-centered environment · Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning practices, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activities · Actively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning results at the course and program levels · Select and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currency · Stay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theory · Implement long- and short-range plans by the philosophy of a learning-centered college · Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community · Participate in community events with appropriate community stakeholders in support of program and college improvement when assigned · Participate in program reviews and institutional effectiveness efforts as assigned · Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college · Provide timely communication with and accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college · Accept teaching assignments, located on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or a corrections setting (Anson county) · Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online · Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities · Participate in or support the mentoring process, theSPCCFoundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation · Perform other tasks as assigned by the immediate manager, the dean, or the Vice President
