In Person Sculpture Studio adjunct - Art and Design

Established sculptor with broad international practice of public and private installations, seeks a technically skilled, practiced, addition to a tight-knit studio team located in Kingston, NY. Studio work varies from large public projects to gallery scale sculptures.
Primary responsibilities of the function are 3D-modeling and rendering, physical model fabrication, supervising large-scale steel construction, spatial planning for museum exhibitions, and possibly hands-on work.

Candidates must be very responsible, smart, and creative problem solvers.

candidates must be proficient in Rhino, ZBrush, and Adobe Creative Suite (primarily photoshop.)

Position is 32 hours per week, Monday – Thursday, 10am-6pm. Studio is located in Kingston, NY. This is position is in person only.

Job responsibilities:
   » Production of 3D files for digital fabrication output
   » Proactive research on digital fabrication methods
   » Develop 3d designs for varying scales and material thicknesses
   » Physical model making of complex forms, using paper, 3d printing, laser cutting and other methods
   » Continually streamline production processes
   » Quickly prototype in 3D, physically and digitally
   » Pro-active communication with team members about works in progress
   » capability to collaborate and respond to creative, critical feedback
   » 3D Sculpting and Mesh Editing
Required Appropriate qualifications:
   » B.Arch, B.F.A. or Bachelor of Industrial Design, or related
   » 3+ years practice with custom fabrication, digital fabrication, architecture, or related
   » practice with making clear construction or shop drawings
   » Tech-savvy balanced with an knowledge and grounding in physical making and intuitive knowledge of materials
   » Advanced knowledge of Rhinoceros 3D
   » Advanced proficiency with Abobe Suite (in particular, Photoshop)
   » practice with 3D rendering
   » Proficiency in preparing 3D prints, operating a (FDM) 3D printer, and maintenance
   » practice outputting to CNC machines (especially laser cutter)
   » Physical model making practice
   » Knowledge and appreciation of contemporary art
   » General installation practice
   » capability to iteratively prototype
   » Experimental and flexible approach to design
Exceptional Candidates Would Also Have:
   » M.Arch, M.F.A. or Masters of Design or related field, or equivalent work practice
   » practice with project management, team leadership abilities
   » knowledge of or practice with metalworking methods
   » practice with mesh editing software(s), i.e. Meshmixer
   » practice with 3D scanning / photogrammetry
   » practice operating CNC machines
   » practice with physically modeling curvilinear forms
   » Mold making practice
