Position Summary Information

Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

Reporting to the Director of Student Aid the Compliance and Training agent is responsible for superviseing the day-to-day operations of the compliance staff. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs as well as assist with fiscal compliance efforts. The Compliance and Training agent will provide training to see that each employee receives adequate education in all state and federal regulations.

What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities
   » Participates in the data gathering and coordination for a prosperous annual financial aid audits, may serve as the lead representative for the FAQs during reviews, and assists in post-audit responses.
   » Responsible for creating & maintaining an continuing regulatory training program for the staff within the Office of Student Aid to ensure that all student communications and publications align with federal regulations and university policies. Including, but not limited to working with external consultants.
   » Work with all areas of Enrollment Management to create and present specialized training relating to federal regulations and university policies relating to financial aid, scholarships, and veterans benefits in a customer service environment.
   » Develop, maintain, and communicate the Financial Aid Compliance Policy in conformity with current regulatory guidelines and strategic direction established by federal, state, and other financial aid entities. In doing so, must maintain the Student Aid Handbook.
   » Monitor financial aid, scholarships and veterans affair processes by performing quality assurance testing on all operations processes within the Office of Student Aid.
   » Develop and ensure federal and state compliant content for financial aid websites and assists in the coordination of the relevancy, usefulness, and accuracy of information on other LU websites related to financial aid, and ensures overall compliance with federal consumer protection and disclosure requirements.
   » Working with the Student Aid leadership abilities identify and implement process improvements within the financial aid department to increase student success, improve department efficiencies, reduce costs, and reduce student frustration in the financial aid processes
   » Tasks are accomplished by hiring new employees; performance evaluations; training new employees; covering personnel decisions for direct subordinates and those under subordinates.
   » Creates, coordinates, and publishes an internal standard operating procedures (SOP) manuals for each area and specific function within operations and compliance and updates/communicates changes to assure compliance with regulatory and administrative requirements for Title IV federal student aid programs.
   » Supervise the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) process, Return to Title IV process, compliance reporting, and the awarding of all loans, state and federal grants and scholarships within the Office of Student Aid to ensure compliance of state and federal aid programs.

Physical Requirements:
   » Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's degree required
   » Minimum three years' work practice, preferably in financial aid, and/or finance, including one year managery practice.
   » Excellent written and verbal communication skills
   » Able to effectively and proactively network with all university professionals
   » Competency and proficiency using technology
   » consciousness of and sensitivity to issues relating to a versatile student body
