Position Summary:: Under the license of the Team Physician, the Temporary adjunct Athletics Trainer will provide essential support to the Director of Sports Medicine and the Head Football Athletic Trainer for approximately a three-month period (August through October) . This position primarily focuses on delivering healthcare services to varsity student-athletes, with a primary emphasis on the football program. The Temporary adjunct Athletics Trainer will collaborate closely with the Strength & Conditioning Staff and other significant stakeholders.

All tasks must be completed in compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations.

tasks and Job responsibilities:: Direct Care and Rehabilitation: Design, implement, and monitor treatment and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes dealing with time-loss injuries. Maintain electronic medical documentation for all student-athletes on a everyday basis.

Coordination and Liaison: Assist in coordinating and superviseing the provision of healthcare services to student-athletes, primarily within the football program. Serve as a liaison between the Sports Medicine staff and the Strength & Conditioning staff regarding rehabilitation programs. Manage external accounts, including pharmacy and physical therapy, and contact with medical practices connected with student-athlete care.

Administrative and Support: Assist in the everyday operations and upkeep of the athletic training facility. Undertake additional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine and/or the Head Football Athletic Trainer.

Minimum Appropriate qualifications:: Formal Education
   » Bachelor's Degree in sports medicine/athletic training or a related field.
   » Current BOC certification.
   » Pennsylvania Athletic Training Class A Certification required by the start date.
   » Current CPR/AED Certification for the Professional Rescuer.

Work practice
   » 3-5 years of progressive athletic training practice, including preventive, evaluative, and rehabilitative expertise.

Work expertise (e.g., written and verbal communication expertise)
   » Excellent verbal and written skill
   » capability to interact with a diverse department, coaching staffs, and university constituencies.
   » Proven capability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner

Specific Job expertise (e.g., expertise of principles and procedures related to field and area)
   » Proficiency in health care insurance issues and drug testing protocols.
   » expertise of Word, Excel, and Applicable Systems in order to track injury and treatment records of the student-athletes.

Equipment expertise
   » Familiarity with therapeutic modalities and rehabilitative equipment.

Preferred Appropriate qualifications:: Formal Education
   » Master's Degree in sports medicine/athletic training or related field preferred.
Work practice
   » practice in a collegiate Division I, II, or III program.
   » practice in post-surgical rehabilitation.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: :
   » Some weekend travel is expected.
   » Hours also include nights and weekends to support games, practices, and treatments.
   » Must be physically fit to lift equipment, capability to lift student-athletes, heavy manipulation of athlete's bodies for physical conditioning and physical therapy.
