Primary Purpose of Position The Business Services Coordinator is part of the Safety & Security Business Team. The function and function of this position is to administer and coordinate a variety of financial, administrative, and personnel related processes for the department of Safety & Security which encompasses Environmental Health & Safety, Office of Emergency Management, Threat Assessment and Management, and Police & Public Safety. The person in this function will be responsible for maintaining department records and paperwork, preparing Financial Transaction Requests (FTR), Electronic Check Requests (ECR), submitting 49er Mart requisitions, P-card requests, assisting with Niner Talent actions, and assisting with departmental budgets. Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. University Preferred Appropriate qualifications: Four year degree in a related business function and two or more years of practice in accounts reconciliation, business processing, office management, or human resources; or an equivalent combination of training and practice. Essential Job tasks » Assist in administering the budget, which includes making recommendations regarding the use and distribution of funds. » Monitor expenditures and account balances for various funds, balancing internal accounting and records against Banner. » Record expenditures and reconcile budgets weekly/monthly for all department funds. » Compile and organize information from different sources to develop reports and reconcile data. » Independently resolve and/or develop recommendations for issues and problems. » Resolve financial discrepancies in a timely manner. Problem resolution requires some interpretation of policies and procedures. » Process personnel actions in Niner Talent as assigned. » Maintain a working expertise of all department and university policies, procedures, technologies, and systems. » Attention to detail and flexibility due to competing deadlines and priorities essential. » Work professionally with complex, confidential, and sensitive information. Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education » Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and practice. » practice working in Higher Education. » Familiarity with UNC systems (Archibus, BANNER, e-procurement system, etc) is a plus. » practice in business administration, finance, and/or human resources. » Budget management, financial reporting, analysis and problem solving practice is desired. » practice with expenditures, reconcile budgets and account balances. » Intermediate work practice/expertise of Google/Microsoft Office suite. » practice with developing reports and reconciling data.
