Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Summer Baro News Editor position for the Orange Media Network (OMN) at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Summer Baro News Editor is responsible for working in collaboration with the editor-in-chief of The everyday Barometer to coordinate and produce content for the monthly print publication and various online and social media platforms.??

Position tasks Summer Baro News Editor
   » Responsible for curating, pitching, assigning, editing and reporting stories for The everyday Barometer, both in print and online, in a timely manner (stories will include investigations, cover stories, hard news, breaking news and significant feature stories)
   » Assist in updating and contributing to social media and web content at least five days per week with stories, photos, interactive features, under the direction of EIC and marketing
   » Assist in completing print editions by deadline
   » Be available for flexible hours, including nights and weekends
   » With EIC, ensure that all students who submit articles and social media content receive coaching and feedback prior to publishing, so that they can improve and learn
   » With EIC, plan and hold weekly meetings to assign tasks and supervise other magazine activity
   » Assist in ensuring that all students who submit articles receive coaching and feedback prior to publishing, so they can lgain and improve
   » Assist the EIC in hiring, supervising and managing a team of writers
   » Attend weekly redmark and editor meetings
   » Grow audience engagement
   » Other tasks as assigned by the editor

Communication
   » Meet regularly with OMN adviser to go over feedback and areas for improvement
   » Respond to emails, messages, team chats and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN
   » Work 20 regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of these hours should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
