Organizational Unit Overview The Division of Student Affairs consists of over 30 departments, each of which is responsible for providing a variety of student support, service, and educational programs which are accessible to the university community. The Office of Parent and Family Programs, which is part of the Student Services Operations unit, strives to inform, engage, and integrate parents as partners of the university community by providing assistance and support through quality parent programs and communications to facilitate student success. The vision of Parent and Family Programs is to enrich the university community by engaging parents and family members of ECU students.

Job tasks Reporting to the Director of Parent and Family Programs, this position will support the mission and objectives of the Office of Parent and Family Programs. The Program Coordinator primarily focuses on the engagement of parents and family members via events and digital communication mechanisms as well as the cultivation of relationships and affinity with this group. The Program Coordinator will be the point person for all logistics, finances, and volunteer support connected with programming and major events offered by Office of Parent & Family Programs.

The Program Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact regarding the Office of Parent and Family Programs and should feel comfortable talking to and working with parents, family members, and supports of students at ECU via planned and responsive communication. The position will represent the university at various functions on and off campus and collaborate with other offices within the Division of Student Affairs and the University at large. This position may require the capability to work nights and weekends for events (when needed).

Parent and Family Programs Programming
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Parent and Family Programs office, plans and organizes activities, communicates, and interprets PFP information, policy, and procedures, and provides customer service to students, parents, and families. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Parent and Family Programs in maintaining established programmatic initiatives, as well as developing new opportunities to better serve the parent and family community. This includes outreach to colleagues and professional networks to benchmark programming efforts and impact, and understand implementation of trends and best practices in the field.

This position will lead administrative and communication efforts for the Office of Parent and Family Programs. This includes managing the phone helpline and email account, as well as assisting with planning and executing communications using the ECU Parent and Family Portal (CampusESP). The Program Coordinator will supervise the maintenance of Parent and Family Program's social media, which includes Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), respond to questions and comments as necessary, and request feedback to assess communication and programmatic needs. This position will also support the Director with making necessary updates to the Parent and Family Programs website.

Event Planning
The Program Coordinator will support the planning and execution of all major events for Office of Parent and Family Programs - Fall Family Weekend, Spring Family Fest, and Orientation, as well as support or take the lead on coordinating smaller events like Paint with your Pirate, regional activities, Fall Open House, Pirates Aboard, and other events designed to engage families in the ECU practice. This includes managing all event logistics such as: venue/catering/vendor selections, marketing and communication, volunteer requests and staffing, collaborative efforts across campus departments, budget, invitation of significant parties, and post-event assessment processes. This position will also represent Parent and Family Programs on behalf of the Director at various campus partner activities through tabling and presentation opportunities, as well as collaborate in the assessment of programs and events as needed. This position will represent Parent and Family Programs on various planning committees for division- and university-wide events.

Additional Responsibilities
This position will supervise the implementation of the annual Cupola Brick program, which includes management of outreach through mailing and social media communication mechanisms and coordination with brick engraver and mason for installation. This position will assist with the recruitment and management of volunteers for various parent and family-centered events, assist in the development of student staff employees, and serve as a liaison to campus committees and represent the office at regional and national conferences. The Program Coordinator will assist in the planning and implementation of new initiatives and programs related to parent engagement and student success, and perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Parent and Family Programs.
