Position Title: adjunct Dean of Social Sciences, Business and History

General Description: Under the direction of the Academic Dean, adjunct Academic Deans provide support to the Academic Deans in the areas of staffing classes, curriculum revision and development, technology, and assessment, with a focus on academic excellence. The primary responsibilities of the adjunct Academic Dean are to hire, supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty and develop course schedules. The adjunct Academic Dean will assist the Dean in achieving institutional goals and will embrace change and contribute to student success initiatives. As part of a leadership abilities culture that is focused on planning, student success, and institutional advocacy, the adjunct Dean will possess a strong commitment to innovation and excellence combined with effective change strategies while contributing to strategic planning efforts.

Characteristics, tasks, and Job responsibilities: · Hire, supervise and evaluate adjunct faculty.
· Orient adjunct faculty to the Division.
· Review course syllabi with adjunct faculty.
· Collaborate with adjunct faculty to strengthen all aspects of the instructional function with an emphasis on supporting pedagogy that engages students.
· Develop Division course schedules.
· Assure that all elements of Program Assessment are completed.
· Advance Professional Development opportunities in conjunction with Division faculty
· Develop and maintain Division web site.
· Monitor enrollment reports of all scheduled courses within the Division.
· Assist Academic Dean in preparation of academic year-end reports.
· Address student concerns through collaboration with the Student Development Division or individual faculty as appropriate.
· Manage the advisory committee process for all career programs within the Division.
· Participate in grant development and administration.
· Serve on Committees as assigned.
· Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Education Requirements:
   » Master's degree required

practice:
   » Teaching practice required, community college teaching preferred
   » Three years of progressive administrative practice in higher education preferred.
   » practice in planning, coordination and on-going improvement of curriculum and instruction preferred.
   » practice in results assessment preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: · This position's tasks are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, located on the activity scheduled.
· Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
· Some travel is required.

income: Minimum $85,000

Terms of Employment: Full Time. Flexible schedule to meet College needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. capability and availability to travel on short notice to all on and off-campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
