Position DetailsPosition InformationAdvertising Department ART, SCHOOL OF Academic Term/Year FALL 2024/SPRING 2025 Position Title Federal Work Study - Design adjunctship Posting Number 06485 Position Number 06485 Student Job Category Student - Federal Work Study On-Campus Number of Vacancies 1 Job Description ECU's School of Art is seeking an Undergraduate Research adjunct (Design) to work on community engagement research project, Our Story: LGBTQ Stories of Eastern North Carolina, primarily related to design, marketing, and exhibition / production tasks conducted as part of this project. (Fall 2024-Spring 2025). About the project: https://art.ecu.edu/ourstoryenc/ Position Details: Candidate will be responsible for designing and setting up files for print production and pre-fabrication processes for community exhibition. This includes attending and/or listening to recorded oral histories to understand project narratives and working with pull quotes from interviews to feature in the exhibition. Candidate must be very good at typographic design-working with type, narrative, story, and type setting-to create strong visuals for exhibition. Candidate will also work with written and visual artifacts to create exhibition materials (as submitted by community members for contribution to the project). This includes working with type and some image. Candidate will also assist with marketing and promotion tasks related to the project. This includes preparing and printing flyers, posters, and digital media for the project, and updating website content and social media content. Other tasks may be assigned located on related expertise. Candidate will work within an established visual identity for the project. Expectations: -Work as a member of research team consisting of the faculty mentor. -Complete assignments as directed by faculty mentor. -Meet ~one/two-weeks (Day/Time located on candidate and faculty's availcapability) Specific Tasks: -update website and create some additional marketing materials for the project as needed. -work with type, narrative, and story to create strong visuals for exhibition. -design ?print-read? files for print production and pre-fabrication processes for community exhibition. -show strong typographic design expertise, specifically with text type. -design and create/manage production processes for additional exhibition materials as needed. -strong use of Illustrator and InDesign digital workflows. Design candidate does not have to attend the interviews but will be invited to attend oral history interviews through the academic year (fall 2024 - spring 2025). Schedule is TBD and located on team and participant availcapability through the upcoming year.
