Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $18.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Technical adjunct DG Lab for the Ag and Marine Sciences at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will support research that aims to deal with problems affecting hop production and producers. Students in this position will have the opportunity to: assist with research in the lab, greenhouse, and field; interact with growers and other members of industry; and do work that tangibly affects people, food production, and the environment. This position offers the opportunity to assist with diverse aspects of research on diseases affecting hop and biological control of arthropod pests. The student will work with graduate students and research personnel in greenhouse, field, and laboratory settings. This may involve plant propagation, watering, and fertilizing; collecting plant samples from field plots; enumerating disease and pests; assisting with maintenance of field plots; and assisting with basic microbiology lab procedures as sample processing, media preparation, and cleanup as needed. Work in the field may be during adverse weather conditions, such as very warm weather or rain. Also required are the capability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. The position requires some travel within and outside Oregon and potentially overnight travel to field plots outside of the state.
