Position Summary Information

Position Summary: The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Human Resources office is seeking to fill a full-time position as a Classification and Compensation Analyst to facilitate compensation and classification related activities in support of university goals and objectives. This position is responsible for classification of positions, compensation analysis and recommendations, which includes allocating positions to appropriate classes, job levels and income ranges, providing consultative and advisory services to university community, and maintaining APSU's Classification and Compensation Program(s).

Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.

Primary tasks and Job responsibilities:
   » Conducts initial review, job analysis, and job evaluation of new, vacant and filled positions, including requests for reclassification, equity adjustments, in-grade adjustments, and income range updates and confirmations.
   » Processes educational increases, promotional increases and extra compensation. This includes direct oversight over the entire educational increase process.
   » Develops written reports of findings for standard functions and-determines classification and compensation located upon research conducted and the best available balance of evidence.
   » Maintains data on inversion, compression, and equity; formulates recommendations regarding the development and updating of income structures, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organizational structures as needed.
   » Implement pay increases in conformity with the University's compensation plan and the scenarios submitted by the Staff and Faculty Allocation Committee.
   » Conducts costing and provides recommendations
   » Completes income data requests including reporting income data to the College and University Professional Association (CUPA).
   » Reviews and approves standard studies independently
   » May be responsible for assisting with benefits processing, especially during peak times such as the beginning of the academic year and open enrollment.

   » expertise of human resources practices, principles and applicable federal/state laws/regulations governing employment.
   » Computer expertise, including word processing, HRIS, Excel spreadsheet and database expertise. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational expertise.

Physical Requirements:
   » Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
   » Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a closely related field.
   » Three years of general human resources practice, at least two related to compensation/classification.
   » Advanced practice in Excel with proven capability to analyze complex data sets.
   » practice providing consultative and advisory services to partners outside of HR on HR matters with the goal of problem solving and creating positive solutions in a customer focused environment.
   » practice drawing conclusions, making decisions and effectively communicating them.
   » Strong analytical and data manipulation expertise.
   » Strong interpersonal and written/ verbal communication expertise.
   » Proficient expertise of current compensation practices and trends.
   » Strong customer service expertise.
Preferred
· PHR, SHRM-CP or CCP.
