Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Equipment Systems Specialist, competency level 2, position for the the Memorial Union at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Memorial Union (MU) is the campus student union and a department of the division of Student Affairs. The MU is geographically located in the middle of the campus and is considered the ?living room of campus?. The MU welcomes students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the local community to campus, and its mission is to provide learning practices and opportunities for personal growth in an open, inclusive, and resource-rich community where student and staff collaborate with a Student Advisory Board, who are influential to the character and scope of the department and provide the budget recommendations for the facilities the MU is charged with, services and programs.

The MU provides community centered inclusive facilities and space that creates an environment for building significant relationships.

The person in this position works within the Memorial Union Guest Services team, works with other MU units and clients to support the technical requirements related to events at all facilities the MU is charged with. The position plans, designs, maintains and installs audio/video systems for events and provides technical support of media applications, operations and distribution of installed meeting and event space systems. The position requires strong technical expertise and service focus to prosperously meet client expectations.

The person in this position must be well-organized and able to keep work up to date, meet people easily and maintain composure during unplanned requests, technical difficulties or equipment changes. This person will exemplify a expertise and appreciation of the intricacies of the collegiate calendar, lgain the organizational culture within the institution, and understand the components of vendor and performer contracts, legal and financial implications of contractual agreements. The Equipment Systems Specialist will prosperously communicate, understand, and interact among persons with differing assumptions that may exist because of ethnic and cultural orientations.

The Memorial Union exists to develop students, create learning opportunities and provide quality facilities and services. The Equipment Systems Specialist will support the unit and division goals by assessing training needs and delivering continual training for staff with different backgrounds and practices. They will assist in providing initial program orientation to new employees including expectations for a welcoming and inclusive workplace climate.

What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of expertise and expertise of equipment and systems that would normally be obtained through an associate of arts degree in electronics or industrial technology, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or directly related practice.

   » expertise of set-up, tear-down, and maintenance of latest technologies in audio visual equipment.
   » Demonstrated capability to teach and train others in proficient use of audio-visual equipment.
   » Demonstrated extraordinary customer service, courtesy and diplomacy.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule
