Work Schedule 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required in conjunction with undergraduate recruiting events.

Primary Purpose of Position The Student Services Specialist plays a key function in supporting the operations / activities for the Student Center, Undergraduate Advising Center, and Student Professional Development unit within the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for students, staff, and external partners. This position also provides administrative and event support, manages communication channels, and serves as a crucial point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:

Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of administrative or office management practice in the student services or related field; or equivalent.

Essential Job tasks The Student Services Specialist supports the operations / activities for the Student Center, Undergraduate Advising Center, and Student Professional Development unit within the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI).

Front-line Student Services:
   » Answers the student center phone line and college group email account.
   » Serves as a gatekeeper for student and visitor traffic by answering basic questions and direct more complex inquiries appropriately.
   » Coordinates with advisors and faculty to ensure smooth operations.
   » Helps coordinate Dean's Ambassador assignments for various events.
Student Professional Development Support:
   » Assists in planning and executing student professional development events (e.g., career fair preview night).
   » Provides administrative support for the Director of Student Professional Development in terms of communicating and coordinating with employers and Dean's Ambassadors. Advising Support:
   » Assists the advising team with graduation audits and the Change of Major/Concentration/Minor processes, issue authorizations / permits to students, schedule and monitor CCI advising center email and help answer general (i.e., not academic advising related) questions.
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Assists with other student-facing administrative tasks as needed (e.g., scholarship management process).
   » Contribute to the continuous improvement of student services by offering feedback and suggestions.
   » Serves on significant university and college committees as required.
Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education
   » Four-year degree in education, human resources, counseling, advising or related fields.
   » 2 (two) years of administrative/office management practice with student services; higher education preferred.
   » Minimum of beginner level practice with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office suite; Google Calendar, (intermediate practice preferred).
   » practice and capability to adapt to other administrative software systems.
   » Strong organization expertise and communication expertise both verbal and written needed for position.
   » Strong customer service service practice; Student Services practice preferred
   » capability to work both independently and with a team.
