Minimum of two (2) years' practice writing investigative reports related to sexual harassment, harassment and discrimination or related investigations. An equivalent combination of education, training and practice may be substituted for the degree requirement. Master's or JD desired. Special Conditions: First consideration given to UofM employees. Initial screening date is September 25, 2024. expertise of current state and federal laws and regulations, best practices in the field of education related to discrimination, harassment and retaliation that violate Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA and the ADA. Case management system practice. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This position may be required to work non-standard or extended hours as needed. Review and edit investigative reports for content, accuracy, grammar, bias and analysis. Works closely with the Director OIE/Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Senior Equity Specialist, Internal Audit, Legal Counsel, Discapability Resources for Students, Student Accountcapability, Counseling Services, Human Resources, Office of Victims Services and Police Services. Cultivates relationships with campus and external stakeholders/partners (e.g., faculty, student, and staff) and continuously identifies and integrates best practices in all investigations and activities, as well as all areas of responsibilities within the broader scope of this function through participation in professional forums, conferences, training and/or associations. Assists the Director OIE/Title IX Coordinator with data collection, analysis and the preparation of annual reports (i.e., RFI from external agencies including, but not limited to, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, and the Office for Civil Rights). Remains abreast of university, federal, and state policies, rules, regulations and statutes. Conducts research on various topics and presents written findings for Director's review. tasks & Job responsibilities: Investigation and Reporting: Receives and conducts informal resolutions and formal investigations of complaints against students, faculty and staff in conformity with the UofM's Interim Sexual Harassment and Sexual/Gender-located Misconduct Policy and Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy. Evaluates complaints, develops investigation plans, conducts interviews, identifies and collects significant information, analyzes evidence/data, applies the appropriate policy, and prepares a detailed typed written investigative report located on the appropriate evidentiary standard. Assures compliance with timelines, acts as a neutral party, maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion, and ensures a fair, prompt, and equitable process for all parties. Provides supportive and protective measures, guidance, and assistance to Complainants and Respondents. Updates case management system (Maxient) all over the investigation process and maintains electronic case log of all cases assigned, as well as information, evidence and related materials collected, and completed to ensure timely processing of all assigned investigations. tasks & Job responsibilities: Training and Development: Develops, coordinates with other departments, and/or implements continuing training, consultation, and technical assistance on issues related to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA and the ADA for students, faculty and staff. Creates and distributes educational materials that inform members of the campus community about the responsibilities of the Office for Institutional Equity, in addition to non-discrimination and anti-harassment laws. Provides inclusive trainings and guidance to search committees and other employees regarding laws, regulations, policies/procedures on equal employment, harassment, discrimination, conflicts of interest, diversity and inclusion and other areas as directed to ensure a fair and equitable recruitment and selection process.
