Position Summary Career Development Center Mission Statement:
Provide leadership abilities, resources, and support that complement each student's diverse academic practice to empower the exploration and pursuit of their future.
Position Definition, Purpose & results:
Career adjuncts facilitate the mission of the Career Development Center by advising and supporting peers in their professional development and career exploration. This is accomplished by providing high-quality career advising, assisting in the coordination of career programs and events, managing online job databases, and contributing to the growth of experiential learning and career development opportunities for OSU-Cascades students.
Through this position, students will develop core competencies that will better prepare them for careers after graduation. These expertise include, but are not limited to communication, critical thinking, teamwork/collaboration, leadership abilities, professionalism, equity/inclusion, and digital technology.
This position is located in Bend, Oregon.

Position tasks
   » Advise students on career exploration, job search strategies, and major-specific career trends.
   » Provide guidance on aligning career opportunities with students' educational and career goals.
   » Assist peers in navigating Handshake for job searches and the Career Development Center's website for career-related resources.
   » Create resources and materials to support students in their career development.
   » Support the planning and coordination of Career Development Center events, including career fairs, networking events, employer information sessions, and class presentations.
   » Manage Handshake activity, approve employers, and job postings.
   » Search databases to gather current job opportunities and design monthly newsletters to share opportunities with students.
   » Design, develop, and implement special projects to enhance and expand student engagement with the Career Development Center.
   » Support Career Development Center staff in completing administrative tasks that align with the center's mission and attend weekly staff meetings.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

   » Must be a currently enrolled student taking 6 credits at an approved college/university. Must meet Satisfactory Academic Standing Requirements of a term and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Period of Employment:
One academic year, contingent upon employee maintaining satisfactory job performance as evaluated by manager. Expected to work 10 hours per week and some late evening/weekend times for event.
