Offer: Network Operations Engineer:Wyoming PBSJob description: Network Operations Engineer Listing description .Position Summary Under the general direction of the Chief Technology agent, the Network Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Wyoming PBS RF and broadcast distribution network. Examples of tasksEssential tasks and Responsibilities» Plans, designs, and implements equipment as appropriate for the WPBS network. » Manages construction and maintenance projects in the field. » Travels to remote sites for routine or emergency maintenance. » Maintains WPBS networks for broadcast transmission and control. » Maintains essential parts inventory, ensuring critical parts are available in case of equipment failure. » Assists the CTO with field related budget planning. » Provides support to studio and field productions as needed. » Operate within the framework established by CWC's policies, procedures, and practices. » Perform other reasonably related tasks as directed or assigned. Typical QualificationsPosition Specifications and Minimum QualificationsEducation » Bachelor's degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. practice » 3 years in the broadcast industry or related field. Licenses/Certifications » Valid driver's license. Wyoming Low Voltage Technician license preferred. » A SBE Broadcast Network Engineer, Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certificate is preferred. Equivalency Statement » Equivalent combinations of education and practice from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Knowledge, expertise, and Abilities » Knowledge of broadcast transmitters and/or TV translators. » Knowledge of digital microwave and fiber optic transmission systems. » Knowledge of computer networking including LAN, WAN, SAN and NAS systems in broadcast television. » Knowledge and knowledge of video, audio, RF and control system flow for a television broadcast and production facility » capability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion. » Effective interpersonal and communication expertise. » Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, vendors and tech support departments. » Knowledge of and expertise in the use of computers and software applications including, MS Windows / Office and Linux / Unix. » capability to relate with a diverse population in a professional, valuable manner. » capability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with attention to detail. » capability to work independently while supporting a team effort. » capability to effectively identify and resolve problems. Equipment Used » Standard office equipment including: personal computer, phone, scanner, copy machine. Broadcast, microwave, and network test equipment Physical Requirements » Tasks require a variety of physical activities, which generally involve muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching and light lifting. Regular talking, hearing and seeing required in the normal course of performing the job. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required to execute some essential functions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stcapability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. capability to operate a motor vehicle. Environmental Conditions » Work is performed in the field at remote sites all over the state of Wyoming. broad travel is required and some evening/weekend work. Work is performed under limited supervision. Work must sometimes be performed under extreme weather conditions including the use of a snow-cat to access remote sites.
