Work Schedule Flexible work hours in conjunction with performance schedules and class schedules.

Non-Performance Days: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Performance Days: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Primary Purpose of Position The tasks of this position are to provide piano, and at times organ or harpsichord accompaniment for the academic and artistic activities for the Department of Music as described by the Department Chair.

Minimum Education/practice Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications:
Formal study and/or special study in assigned performing art sufficient to demonstrate technical and artistic expertise in music theory, composition, sight-reading, arranging, and improvisation; or equivalent combination of training and practice.

University Preferred Appropriate qualifications:
Formal study and/or special study in piano sufficient to demonstrate technical and artistic expertise in music theory, composition, sight-reading, arranging, and improvisation. Minimum of two years practice as a performer in the specific artistic field

Essential Job tasks
   » Rehearses and performs for solo performers, concert rehearsals, private practices, auditions, and classes.
   » Rehearses, performs, and coaches music for a variety of artists.
   » Uses sight reading, transposition, and arranging expertise to improve accompaniments.
Other Work Responsibilities
   » Advanced piano technique and practice.
   » Uses Music Writing Software and digital tools to copy accompanying materials.
   » Word processing correspondence and creating spreadsheets in Excel: these spreadsheets are time schedules set up for customer rehearsals, recitals and auditions.
   » Provides accompaniment for music concerts, faculty, and guest artists; music courses as needed; and communicates well verbally and in writing.
   » Anticipates accompaniment needs of instructors, students and visiting artists. Recommends a variety of styles. Demonstrates high level of artistry in work.
Departmental Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education
   » At least a Bachelor's degree in piano performance from an accredited school or department of music or equivalent private study in piano.
   » Extended practice as a collaborative artist and pianist, review of recordings submitted with application (use ?other document? to submit a minimum of three recent recordings in a collaborative function), references, interview, and audition for finalists.
   » Graduate work in piano or its equivalent is desirable. Requires a high level of keyboard expertise, including sight reading, transposition, improvisation and ensemble accompanying.
   » Establishing a model for professional, positive interactions with customers. Accomplishes prosperous and continual self- supervised practice and repertoire enhancement.
   » Continual research and examination of music to prepare for concerts, recitals, and auditions for students, faculty, and guest artists.
