JOB DESCRIPTION The Public Safety agent provides for the safety and security of Winterthur staff, guests, visitors, collections, and assets. Public Safety will provide guidance in a professional demeanor to bring all significant situations to a resolution. They will respond to all emergencies, as well as assist in the de-escalation of conflicts on the Winterthur campus. As the first interaction a guest has with a Winterthur employee is often a member of the Public Safety Department, Information technology is important that they provide a warm and welcoming demeanor to guests, visitors, and suppliers. Compensation: Starting at $15.25/hr. Work Schedule: Variable, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. We are pursuing individuals available specifically for part time weekend work. Responsibilities » Respond to and investigate any type of incident involving the safety of staff, guests, assets, or property » Provide first aid and/or CPR in the event of a medical emergency and provide guidance and physical assistance in the event of an emergency evacuation. Follow existing emergency procedures for evacuations due to any fire, flood emergency, or sudden and severe weather conditions that may arise » Exhibit strong customer service expertise during any situation, including responding to inquiries from guests, visitors, and suppliers » Maintain vigilance for and take proactive steps to correct potentially hazardous situations » Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures governing people, vehicles, and property by all persons on Winterthur property » Monitor the security of Winterthur via computerized security systems » Galleries-monitor 1st and 2nd floor Galleries and respond to emergencies that arise » Motor Patrol-patrol Winterthur grounds and required buildings and respond to emergencies that arise, including assisting in the evacuation of Museum, Gallery, and Wing » Main Gate-screen entry when not open to the public; greet and direct first time guests to Visitor Center; greet outside contractors and ensure proper direction or escort to destination; answer incoming calls and provide assistance as necessary » Museum-Secure exterior doors as needed, respond to medical emergencies; respond, investigate, and complete written reports on injured guests and employees. Evening & Night-walk Museum Wing, Gallery, and Research Building to monitor exterior doors and check for safety issues Requirements Minimum practice: High school diploma or equivalent with some customer service, safety, or law enforcement practice, or the capability to lgain public safety tasks quickly Preferred practice: High school diploma or equivalent, first aid certification, and 1+ years' practice in a public safety-related field expertise/expertise » The capability to talk to people in a friendly manner that gets results » A teamorientation and availability to collaborate » Flexible work days/hours and capability to work some overtime, on occasion with little notice » This position requires clear thinking during any situation that may arise with a calm and professional demeanor » Proficient oral and written communication expertise » CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. Without prior certification, must be able to pass a written and practical test after attending a training course as designated by Winterthur » Basic computer expertise, including word processing, accessing and managing a Winterthur provided e-mail account, and navigating the internet » capability to utilize computerized security and office systems after training Essential Functions » Valid driver's license with no conviction for driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol within 3 years of application. Certified copy is to be provided by applicant upon request » No convictions for theft or sexually related offenses » Must be able to work within the confines of the Museum or other Collection areas that require tight security and attention to detail » Must enjoy dealing with the public in a cultural property setting » Must be capable of performing CPR /First Aid after training » Must be able to climb multiple stairs; at least 9 floors » Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time; potentially 8 hours or more » Must be able to sit in and operate a SUV or Pickup type vehicle for an 8-hour shift » Must be able to lift 50+ pounds » Must be able to climb a ladder To Apply: Click here to apply Skills:
