SI sessions are facilitated by trained LU peers who assist students with learning course content and study expertise. Tutoring Services is hiring motivated, capable and personable students to be Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders. We are seeking for SI Leaders in a variety of subjects, including business, biology, chemistry, physics, nursing, engineering, and the social sciences. • Attend all class meetings of the selected course, take accurate notes, and understand all the homework/reading assignments and projects • Attend and participate in all scheduled trainings, programs, and meetings • Provide additional SI sessions as necessary • Be familiar with campus resources available to students • Submit SI attendance report and session notes on Blackboard weekly • Follow all procedures and policies set by STAR Services • Maintains consistent communication with managery staff and faculty Minimum Appropriate qualifications: • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA • Prior enrollment and earned grade of B+ or higher in the selected course • Strong interpersonal and communication expertise • Commitment to work the scheduled times to meet session requirements • Faculty recommendation (content competency is required) Preferred Appropriate qualifications: • Previous tutoring or academic support practice Physical Requirements: Certifications Required: Work Hours: Maximun 19.5 hrs/week Job Conditions: Additional Instructions for candidates: Applicant needs to be nominated by faculty before applying for this position.
