Tutors provide academic support to ECU student-athletes, as assigned by the tutor coordinator, located on specific courses they list on their application. The main function of the tutor is to provide clarification and supplementation to enhance a student's knowledge. The Student-Athlete Academic Services' Tutor program staff is selected from among the top students at ECU, who undergo a structured training program to ensure that the highest quality of services are provided, resulting in many prosperous practices for all involved.
