Position Summary:: In close collaboration with the Director of Communication and Marketing, the Communications Associate provides communication support and skills to various areas of the Law School, for both internal and external constituencies. The individual in this position develops, implements and manages communication and marketing materials and tactics to effectively promote the Law School's overall strategic priorities and advancement efforts. The Communications Associate helps support numerous initiatives for internal partners, including the dean, law school faculty and staff, Development and Alumni Relations, and University Communication and Marketing. He/she closely collaborates with the Director and adjunct Director of Communication and Marketing to execute the dean's vision and advance the law school's reputational goals. Key responsibilites include writing and editing content for the web, social media, electronic newsletters, and print materials; triaging and managing communications requests; updating the law school's website; and providing communications support for academic events.

tasks and Job responsibilities::
   » Serves as a project manager and writer for various communication initiatives that effectively promote the Law School's strategic priorities and advancement efforts. Works collaboratively with the Law School leadership abilities, faculty, department directors, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, and communicate key messaging in multiple formats.
   » Executes outreach efforts on behalf of the Law School's academic and alumni engagement programs and events, which includes writing and editing for varied audiences, developing social media copy and posting content for multiple channels, assisting with the production of marketing materials, creating and editing new content for electronic and print publications (including the website), to advance communication strategies, drive event registration, and effectively promote the programs.
   » Supports outreach and engagement efforts of Development and Alumni Relations, which includes writing and editing content, assisting with the production of marketing and solicitation materials, creating and editing new content for electronic and print publications (including the website) to advance constituent engagement and promote the Law School's alumni and fundraising programs and campaigns.
   » Promotes consciousness of the Law School and communicates with constituents through electronic media and digital platforms, including web, and social media outlets.
   » Facilitates general communication projects, including managing the communication team inbox and working with Creative Services, Graphic Services, University Photography and others to produce print and electronic materials, event materials, Commencement-related collateral and other pieces, and photography.
   » Performs additional tasks and assists with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Appropriate qualifications::
   » Bachelor's degree required.
   » 2+ years of significant professional writing, project management, and communication practice.
   » Must be a team player with excellent written, verbal, writing, organizational, project management, and planning skills.
   » Must be able to self-edit and edit the work of others.
   » Must be highly detail-oriented and client service-focused.
   » Must be a flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter who enjoys collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies.
   » The individual must be able to handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.
   » The individual must be able to work independently as well as with others, handle situations and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact, and maintain excellent relationships.
   » Must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the Villanova University School of Law and the University, a commitment to the University's Catholic/Augustinian heritage and advancement of its mission, and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
   » The individual must have demonstrated practice in writing and editing and social media management. Demonstrated practice with leading social media platforms is also required.
   » The individual must be highly proficient in all standard computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. practice with direct mail software, broadcast email, event registration software, web-enabled technologies, and online measurement platforms (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.) is preferred. A working expertise of web design, content management systems, and scripting tools including HTML is preferred. practice with Photoshop, Adobe products (InDesign) and graphic arts programs is also preferred.

   » Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or English preferred.
   » practice in an academic or non-profit environment is preferred.
   » Demonstrated competence in writing and editing, project management, and desktop publishing programs preferred.
