Min Hourly Rate $14.20 (Standard); $13.20 (Non-Urban); $15.45 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $18.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to create a pool of interested candidates to fill Special Project adjunct positions for the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Oregon State University as the need arises. The student in this position will be expected to work between 1 to 20 hours per week depending on the need and assignment. The student adjunct performs hands-on practice in a research lab environment, to complement regular curriculum and enhance expertise for future job placement. This person will receive lab orientation and safety training if required. This position is typically funded by gifts, grants, and/or contract funds. Position tasks 100% tasks to be determined by hiring unit/manager and may include book reviews and publication research, experimentation in a laboratory setting, laboratory set-up and maintenance, data collection and analysis, and other related tasks. Other tasks are performed specific to the funding and research topic. tasks may include, but are not limited to: Assisting PhD students and/or the professor in conducting research in EECS related fields. In addition, the student adjunct could receive mentorship on design, implementation and test of multiple Electrical Engineering and Computer Science research areas. A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Applicant must be able to communicate effectively and professionally. Attention to detail and expertise of general lab procedures. Must be enrolled in a high school, community college, or university; Must be engaged in academic coursework and activities that are directed at obtaining a degree (as opposed to coursework taken for personal interest or enrichment); and Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standards below to be considered by the educational institution she/he is attending as a diploma or degree seeking student: Must meet Satisfactory Academic Standing Requirements. Students who meet Satisfactory Academic Standing Requirements must have a term and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. Preferred (Special) Qualifications Demonstrable commencement to promoting and enhancing diversity. Student in good academic standing. Strong written and oral communication expertise. Desire to be involved in hands-on research. Working Conditions / Work Schedule Work conditions / Schedule: 100% -Research. This undergraduate adjunct position is expected to work 1-20 hours a week during academic terms. Work may be performed in various types of settings including but not limited to: offices, classrooms, and/or labs.
