Posting DetailsPosition InformationPosting Number: 20112971 Position Title: Spindletop Museum Specialist FTE: 1.0 Employment type: Staff Department: Spindletop Boomtown Museum Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function: The Museum Specialist reports to the Director of Spindletop Museum and is tasked with supporting all programming initiatives, and ensuring concerts and other events are efficiently and effectively executed. Is required to assist with the set up and breakdown of museum events and will maintain an effective and positive working relationship with guests, co-workers, and management. This includes programming, conservation, collection registration, exhibition and supervise student workers, among other museum related tasks. Additionally, they are responsible for the care and maintenance of all artifacts and manuscript collections. What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities: » Efficiently and effectively execute all scheduled programming, particularly at after-hours student and community events. These tasks include: set-up, breakdown, coordinating with student workers and part-time staff, collaborating with operations crew members, act as museum representative when the Director and Program Coordinator are not present, and ensuring all venues maintain a positive point-of-contact for support needs. » Maintain, control, and supervise the museum collections, this includes: annual inventory, research, maintaining relations with connected family, maintaining accurate files, donor logs, loan records, and manage interns or part-time staff in the execution of these responsibilities. » Coordinate Facilities services, monitor exhibit environments for pests, temperature, and humidity fluctuations. » Serves on the curatorial team by assisting with object inventory projects, digitizing, and exhibit cleaning. » Prepare cash register for sales, gift shop, and other sales on site. Deposit sales each week from sales. Key Competencies: » Able to follow instructions and perform assignments efficiently and effectively » Able to work in both a group setting and alone with minimum supervision » Availcapability to work varied shifts, mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays » capability to work quickly, effectively, and responsibly without constant direction » Comfortable working around children and large crowds Physical Requirements: » Able to lift 40 lbs. and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings. » Essential functions or requirements listed above may not be performed in every position with this title, and these essential functions may not include all related tasks that might be requested and/or performed.
