Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (approximately 10 hours per week) Temporary Biological Sciences Research Technician 1 position for the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University (OSU).

This temporary position will assist with reviewing bioacoustics data collected from the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest for the development and training of a deep learning neural network.

What We Require
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and practice.
What You Will Need
   » capability to identify Pacific Northwest songbirds by sound.
   » Previous practice working with bioacoustics data.
   » practice working with various computer audio software (audacity, kaleidoscope, etc).
   » Demonstrated capability to contribute to an inclusive, respectful, and welcoming workplace environment for individuals with a range of different backgrounds, identities, perspectives, and/or life practices.
What We Would Like You to Have
   » Bachelor's degree in environmental, ecological, or biological field.
   » practice managing large audio datasets.
   » practice annotating bioacoustics data using whombat software.
   » Good interpersonal expertise.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule The work schedule will average 10-20 hours a week. Work will require sitting at a computer for prolonged periods and repetitive motions. Work may be performed remotely, as agreed upon by the employee and manager.
