The Wilma Theater

The Wilma Theater seeks a Community Practice Coordinator.
Position Summary
The Community Practice Coordinator is a position designated to evolve the Wilma Theater's Portable Studio Programing, help expand outreach to connect audiences to Wilma's existing accessibility services, and to assist in implementing the Accessible Productions Initiative (API Program). Funded by a William Penn Foundation grant through July 31, 2026, the focus of this position is three-part:
   » Implement programming in the Portable Studio Program as a Project Manager.
   » Assist the Director of Education & Community Practice with administrative work in support of the API program, one show per season.
   » Lead group outreach to expand the number of communities who know about and use accessibility services the Wilma offers: Closed Captioning, Audio Descriptive Services and Relaxed Performances.

Responsibilities
   » Project Manages 2-3 Portable Studio Residencies all over the year. Portable Studio is a program where Wilma Theater Teaching Artists engage in creative art-making practices with Community Partners, typically ages 18 and older, who may or may not have prior practice with the Wilma Theater or the performing arts. Past and current residencies include Philly House Men's Shelter, Broad St Love, Philadelphia Senior Center. Responsibilities include contracting, scheduling and onboarding Teaching Artists; being a point person for needs on site; calendar coordination with partners/the Wilma; reflecting with the Community Practice Department and partners.
   » Asssits the Director of Education and Community Practice with coordination and implementation of the API program. The API program is a new program that brings community members into a collaborative process with the creative team of a Wilma production. Responsibilities include contracting, scheduling and onboarding community partners; coordinating activities with Stage Management, and Artistic departments; calendar coordination with partners/the Wilma; reflecting with the Community Practice Department and partners.
   » Works with the Director of Education and Community Practice to administer and reconcile the budget for these programs as needed.
   » In collaboration with the Development Department, helps develop and implement evaluation tools to track data and measure the impact of Portable Studio and Community Practice programming.
   » In collaboration with Box Office, leads outreach to communities who may want to utilize audio description, open captioning and relaxed performance services for our productions.
   » Attends and supervises all relaxed performances and works with Community Practice Department to reflect on, expand and modify our current practices.
   » In collaboration with Marketing Department, helps foster and cultivate community relationships all over the season, including Affinity Nights and show-specific community programming.
   » Attends monthly All-Staff Meetings and Opening Nights (typically 4 per year).

Requirements
   » Bachelor's degree or equivalent practice in related field(s).
   » 3-5 years of practice in community engagement or related field(s).
   » Excellent communication and interpersonal expertise.
   » Strong organizational and project management expertise.
   » capability to work independently and as part of a team.
   » Passion for and practice with leading work that is intentionally Anti-Racist, Anti-Homophobic, Anti-Xenophobic, Anti-Ableist. capability to have complex dialog that centers these practices.
   » Proactive approach to problem solving
   » practice with Project Management, including scheduling and contracting employees and leading site visits.
   » practice with or demonstrated capability to learn: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Sharepoint, Google Drive, Docusign.

Location and Schedule
Due to Covid-19, much of the Wilma administrative staff is conducted in a hybrid environment of remote and in-person work, dependent upon function function and responsibilities. In consultation with your manager, Information technology may be determined that some administrative aspects of your function may be performed remotely.

Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, unless otherwise established by your manager or the Managing Director to meet the theater's needs.
From time to time, you may be required to work outside of normal business hours.

Working Conditions
Limited travel between the Wilma Theater on 265 S. Broad Street and the rehearsal studio space within the Philadelphia city limits. Occasional site visits to Community locations. Wilma Theater pays for travel for site visits.

COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
The Wilma Theater strongly recommends all employees, whose work requires their physical presence on-site at spaces managed and operated by The Wilma Theater, to be fully vaccinated and up to date with the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna (bivalent) vaccine. Being ?fully vaccinated? and ?up to date? as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO) authorized vaccine.

Compensation
This is a regular part-time, non-exempt function with compensation of $21,000/annually, funded by a William Penn Foundation grant through July 31, 2026.
