Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Graphic Designer position for Student Success & Belonging in the Educational Opportunities Program at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Graphic Designer (GDs) creates graphical materials for communication and marketing purposes in order to promote the Student Success & Belonging and/or initiatives and programs in the Educational Opportunities Program. Students in this position will focus their design work to address the needs of their community in the following areas: academic success, social justice, leadership abilities, identity development, community & belonging, and well-being.

Position tasks
   » 1. Create graphical materials for on-campus and online marketing needs that promote SSB& EOP and/or their initiatives and programs.
   » a. For example: posters, tickets, flyers, social media graphics, stickers, video graphics, publications, digital signage, etc.
   » b. Compose engaging emails to SSB& EOP students using mailchimp
   » 2. Produce media that inspires, uplifts, empowers, and speaks to the diversity of identities in the respective community.
   » a. For example: working on projects that promote a sense of belonging, encouraging community involvement in SSB & EOP. Promote health, wellness, and student success specific to respective communities, etc.
   » 3. Engage oneself and others in mutual learning on identity development and social justice.
   » a. For example: staying current on issues impacting communities; interrupting and educating about bias, microaggressions and other issues impacting communities; raise consciousness underserved parts of the community, etc.
   » 4. Work with professional and student staff as partners to get direction and continuing feedback on design projects.
   » a. For example: working with other student staff to create marketing materials for programming and working collaboratively with the programs like the Griggs Center, Trio-SSS, or CAMP and the CRCs.
   » 5. Work with SSB professional staff & affiliated marketing partners for mentorship, expertise development, and training with OSU branding guidelines.
   » a. May include: regular 1:1 trainings, working out of other EOP spaces, attending expertise-building workshops, etc.
   » 6. Work with Printing & Mailing on print requests, and ensure printed material projects are completed on-time.
   » a. For example: submitting materials in time for events, history, tribute or heritage months, adjust formatting of content, adjust dimensions, etc.

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
   » Demonstrated practice in design software
   » For example: Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Mailchimp, etc.
   » Demonstrated capability to accept and integrate constructive feedback in the design process
   » Demonstrated capability to effectively manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and prioritize tasks
   » Demonstrated expertise of and sensitivity
   » Demonstrated practice with social media
   » For example: instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, Linkedin etc.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
   » practice with the Educational Opportunities Program or Student Success & Belonging
   » practice serving as a Bridge Mentor
   » practice serving as a Beaver Connect Mentor
