Position Summary: The Department of Communication & Film at the University of Memphis seeks to fill a tenure-track adjunct professor position in film and video production to begin in August 2025. The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their capability to contribute in significant ways to the diversity and intercultural academic goals of the university.

The candidate must have a terminal degree, practice in the field of film and video production and a record of continuing creative achievement. The candidate should be able to demonstrate hands-on practice in the full production process from writing to post-production.

Preference will be given to those with a record of teaching intermediate and advanced courses in narrative writing, producing, and directing. The candidate should also have practice teaching basic production courses.

With an enrollment of around 20,000 students, The University of Memphis is a leading metropolitan research university, noted for drawing on the strengths and challenges of our urban setting and region. One of six departments in the College of Communication and Fine Arts, the Department of Communication & Film includes 20 full-time faculty members, approximately 45 graduate students (MA and PhD), and over 200 undergraduate majors. At the undergraduate and MA levels, we offer concentrations in Film and Video production and Communication Studies. At the PhD level, we offer programs in Rhetoric and Media Studies and Applied Communication.
