Job Summary The Eastern Oregon University Ag Program is seeking a Head Advisor. This is a part-time (0.50 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

This position is responsible for advising undergraduate students in the Eastern Oregon Agriculture and Natural Resources Program, managing the undergraduate curriculum, and superviseing programmatic efforts aimed at student success, career development, recruitment, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The main function of the position is to help students negotiate the undergraduate degree practice and to facilitate their future professional success. The position engages people of all backgrounds in a variety of modes including face-to-face conversations, group meetings, and written communication. Much of the advising takes the form of direct one-on-one meetings with students (either face-to-face or via Zoom).

The OSU Agriculture & Natural Resource Program at EOU is a cooperative partnership between Oregon State University's College of Agricultural Sciences and Eastern Oregon University. The OSU Ag & NR Program was developed to help serve the needs of the communities and entities of eastern Oregon and the Intermountain West.

Key Responsibilities 90% Advising . Serve as Head Advisor for all undergraduate students enrolled in the Eastern Oregon Agricultural and Natural Resource Program majors and minors.

The Head Advisor will coordinate between OSU and EOU admission, enrollment and financial aid policies for dual enrolled students.
Specific advising tasks for students may include, but are not limited to:
   » Serve as EOANRP advisor and liaison to OSU major and minor departments, University offices, and appropriate committees for the College of Agricultural Sciences, OSU, and EOU.
   » Maintain accurate, secure, and up-to-date student records and notes. Apply transfer course work in the major and where appropriate, degree requirements. Track student progress and complete timely and accurate preliminary and final degree audits for students approaching graduation.
   » Developing student information materials/workshops for course registration with EOU and OSU, OSU admissions procedures, graduation procedures and program elements and procedures. Ensuring compliance with EOU and OSU regarding Memorandum of knowledge.
   » Student recruitment and retention.
   » Student program planning and course registration.
   » Student scholarship assistance.
   » Assessment of student academic progress and graduation audit.
   » Career counseling and placement.
   » Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion, including efforts promoting equitable advising to diverse and underrepresented identity groups.
5% Lead Work/Supervision
Provide lead work for one classified and/or student employee in the advising program, including planning, assigning, and approving work.

5% Service
Participate as a collegial member of the unit, and perform appropriate service that contributes to the effectiveness, diversity and inclusiveness of the departments, college, the University, and the professions. University service includes serving the University-wide community of research, teaching, and extension faculty including development of community resources. Professional service includes involvement in appropriate professional organizations

What You Will Need Bachelor's degree.

Two years of professional practice in academic support, student services, or teaching.

practice advising/mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds in a higher education environment.

Demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including the capability to work with diverse faculty, students, industry clientele, and stakeholders.

Demonstrated organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and planning capabilities.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
