Listing description
KPCW's President and General Manager is relocating back east for family reasons. The NPR affiliate covers Summit and Wasatch counties; and Park City community members all over the world rely on the station for news and information about this international ski area.
KPCW's mission is to inform, educate and entertain its audience through local news, NPR and APM programming, and AAA music.
The station President and General Manager is responsible for supporting the vision, mission and strategic initiatives of the station, continually assessing and improving the station's performance, and ensuring the station is meeting the needs of the community. In addition, the GM makes sure the station is in compliance with Community Radio and Federal Communications Commission (FCC) standards and guidelines at all times.
Job tasks: The General Manager is responsible for ensuring that the tasks and responsibilities listed below are fulfilled:
• Provide leadership abilities in planning, implementing, and providing oversight to station operations, seeking consensus where possible, and communicating the basis for decisions to stakeholders.
• Plan, implement, and provide oversight to ensure effective administrative support, budget management, grants management, contract management, records management, and overall personnel management (evaluation and development).
• Ensure that the facility, all equipment, and any other materials or items needed to effectively broadcast everyday programming on a 24-hour basis are operating and maintained and repaired in a timely manner with appropriate delegation to Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers.
• Lead the station in planning, implementing, and providing oversight to ensure effective fundraising efforts, including business sponsorship solicitation, fund drives, the Broadcasters Club program for major donors, grants, and special events.
• Serve in the capacity of Head of Grantee for the Corporation of Public Broadcasting and ensure the station is inline with CPB and FCC compliance. Ensure public records are adequately maintained, up-to-date, and available to the public upon request.
• Provide oversight to the staff and volunteers to ensure quality programming, appropriate use of third-party programming; quality production and announcing of live or station-produced programs and increasing listenership.
• Utilize radio listenership data, community and public feedback, and audience research and information to validate and/or modify programming when necessary. supervise Community Advisory Board meetings.
• Promote KPCW's function in the community by articulating the mission, policies and strategic direction; developing positive relationships with community leaders and organizations, listeners, advisory boards, members, donors, underwriters, broadcasters, other volunteers, staff, and other constituencies of the station.
• Provide regular program and financial reports to the Board of Directors; advising the Board on policy decisions, and implementing the board's approved policies and strategic plan.
• Serve as the primary communication link to other agencies and organizations involved in public broadcasting, representing KPCW's interests to those agencies and organizations, and seeking opportunities for collaboration or utilizing shared resources.
• Foster a positive and creative environment, offering support and encouragement to all staff, volunteers and other contributors in pursuit of the station's prosperous operation.
• Exemplify, uphold, and enforce all company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.

• Minimum of five years of practice in a leadership abilities position with a community radio or other community-located media, or nonprofit organization.
• practice with financial management, budgeting, nonprofit accounting, fundraising and development.
• practice directing grant writing, donor/member program management, and event coordination.
• practice with radio/audio/podcast production.
• practice in local news and/or emergency broadcasting.
• practice with website development and use of web social media for communications and promotion.
expertise and Other Requirements:
• Demonstrated capability to lead, motivate and manage paid and volunteer personnel.
• capability to work nights and weekends when scheduled events require it.
• capability to work with a wide variety of people, incorporating diverse interests and opinions into decision-making and collaborations.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication and presentation expertise.
• Competency with software including Zoom, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and radio production.
• Demonstrate expertise and application of FCC regulations.
• General technical expertise of radio technology and an capability to lgain and adapt to new technologies (including media technology for program development, organizational communication, etc.)
• Familiarity with computer networking and management concepts.
• Excellent organizational expertise.
• Demonstrated capability to work under strict deadlines and short timelines.
• Demonstrated capability to prosperously work collaboratively.
• Verbally conveys information, instructions, and ideas clearly and quickly.
• capability to travel.
• Must maintain a valid Class C driver's license and/or reliable means of transportation.
