Primary Purpose of Department The Graduate School at UNC Charlotte has a dual mission to serve external and internal constituents. Primary Purpose of Position The Director of Graduate Programs and Data Analytics provides vision and leadership abilities to support 30+ master's, doctoral, and graduate certificate programs; works collaboratively with graduate program directors (GPDs) to facilitate student recruitment, retention, financial assistance, graduation, and placement; and leverages institutional data to enable strategic decision-making and program improvement in the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences (CHESS). The individual in this function works closely with administrators in the Dean's Office and the Graduate School and reports to the Associate Dean for Research and Interdisciplinary Collaboration.

Summary of Position Responsibilities The Director of Graduate Programs and Data Analytics provides leadership abilities and administration for graduate programs in the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences, ensuring alignment with the College's mission. The function involves enhancing the recruitment, retention, and success of graduate students through targeted initiatives, while also serving as a primary point of contact for administrative matters. The Director also leverages data analytics to inform strategic planning, program evaluation, and decision-making processes, developing and maintaining systems to track key metrics. The Director fosters a collaborative environment, facilitates effective communication between the College, Graduate School, and GPDs, and supports efforts to continuously improve academic programs in the College through data-informed decision-making. this function also includes representing the College in significant meetings and committees.

Minimum Education/practice The Director of Graduate Programs and Data Analytics position requires a Master's degree, preferably in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Marketing, or one of the fields represented in the College of Humanities & Earth and Social Sciences. Also, a minimum of 2 years of practice in working in Higher Education Administration, with a focus on Graduate Education and/or Data Analytics.

   » Proven record of leadership abilities and management in an academic setting is highly desired.
   » practice with data analytics tools and methodologies is preferred.
   » practice preparing, disseminating, and interpreting large sets of data.
   » Preference will be given to individuals with expertise of current models for (Graduate) Education, including student support services; student recruitment and enrollment management; and strong assessment expertise.

   » Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication expertise.
   » capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
   » capability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
   » Proficiency in data analysis software and tools (e.g., R, Python, Tableau, etc.).
   » practice with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, databases, and internet applications.
   » Advanced or intermediate expertise of Microsoft Office Excel is strongly preferred.
   » The capability to work with very careful attention to detail and deadlines is essential.
   » expertise of higher education trends and best practices in graduate education.
   » Strong service orientation and the capability to exercise good judgment in the handling of sensitive and confidential matters.
