About Our Agency:
South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational practices, and strengthens communities while working to create a stronger, more connected, and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.

JOB PURPOSE:
This position will act as a Software Engineer working with the Enterprise Systems team on projects developing and/or modifying computer programs by converting project requirements into code for the Department/Agency. The Software Engineer will develop code to bridge systems with custom ETL programs or leveraging other off the shelf products. Additionally, this position will perform software tuning, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting. This position must be comfortable working on-site or remotely as needed.

JOB tasks:
Assesses design options, designs technical requirements for applications, identifies and analyzes problems, tests and debugs code, troubleshoots applications, maintains installed systems, produces and maintains documentation, and conducts application quality assurance. Assists in the training of co-workers and/or customers in the operations of new and existing systems and related technical concepts.

Troubleshoots and tunes existing programs or Information technology systems as needed. Also develops, recommends, and documents best practices for the development and execution of systems.

Works with departments all over the agency to identify and address reporting needs. Queries data using SQL databases and builds and publishes reports using, but not limited to, Microsoft 365 products.

Makes recommendations to management and co-workers concerning enhancements to application systems and/or Information technology business processes to improve efficiency within the department and or systems as needed.

Performs other related tasks as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and work practice in the modification and maintenance of system programs, the design and development of system software. An Associate's degree or a Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work practice.

Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field and 2+ years of practice software engineering. 1-2 years of direct practice working with .Net and MS SQL including solid troubleshooting and application development practice.
