Min Hourly Rate $14.70 (Standard); $13.70 (Non-Urban); $15.95 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $17.00 (Standard); $16.50 (Non-Urban); $18.00 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill 1 part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Archivist position for the OSU Library at Oregon State University (OSU). Student Archivists support SCARC Public Services faculty and staff in their work providing assistance to researchers in-person and remotely, and are tasked with special projects which increase efficiency in providing service to researchers. Position tasks Student Archivists will be expected to assist with providing basic public service to patrons visiting the SCARC reading room or submitting inquiries remotely. This work will include: assisting public services archivists with remote reference through the fulfillment of digitization requests; assisting public service archivists with in-person reference through the paging of archival materials and rare books; work on long-term special projects, such as preparing archival materials for circulation in the Reading Room, shelf reads, and re-boxing collections; and administrative tasks. Public Services Student Archivists are also expected to staff Open House hours every Wednesday morning from 10:30am to 1:30pm (these hours are split between three Public Services Student Archivists according to their schedule). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications Preferred (Special) Qualifications Preferred qualities and qualifications include: » Strong oral and written communication expertise » capability to work equally well in a team environment, and independently » Detail-oriented, proactive, and dependable » Previous practice in the public service / customer service a plus » Previous practice using MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.), Google Docs and Sheets, and common office technology (e.g. photocopier, scanner) a plus Working Conditions / Work Schedule Public Services Student Archivists work in SCARC's fifth-floor workroom in the Valley Library; this position is fully in-person and onsite. Job tasks frequently involve lifting and transporting boxes weighing up to 40 pounds, and exposure to dust and allergens. Anticipated 10-12 hours per week. Schedules are flexible and generally tailored to fit within SCARC's staffed hours, which at Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. No after hours or weekend hours are available.
