Job Summary/Basic Function: About this function:

The Simulation Lab adjunct will be directed by Center Director, Edna Horn Learning Center, in order to assist faculty in the set up and delivery of clinical skill simulation practices for nursing students and guests in the Simulation Center. The Simulation Lab adjunct is able to use and provide support for state of the art task trainers, patient simulators, video capture and debriefing software, electronic health records, web located clinical tools, computerized medication administration equipment, and standardized (simulated) patients in the implementation of clinical skill simulation scenarios. Additional responsibilities include procurement and organization of necessary office, testing, and clinical supplies needed for clinical skill simulations. At the direction of the supervising faculty member, the Simulation Lab adjunct revises forms as needed for clinical skill simulations. Confidentiality in the Simulation Center and clinical labs is also of utmost importance. The Simulation Lab adjunct facilitates and monitors students during class practice sessions and documents check-offs on skills as scheduled to be communicated with and reviewed by the supervising faculty. The Simulation Lab adjunct will meet regularly with the supervising faculty, Clinical Skills lead and Simulation and Laboratory Director to ensure that the educational needs of nursing students are being met and policies for clinical skills are being followed.

What You'll Do - Position Job responsibilities:
   » Facilitates and guides students during laboratory sessions and tracks student completion of skills and course progression.
   » Facilitates and documents guided laboratory practice sessions in the Simulation Center at the direction of the supervising faculty and Simulation and Laboratory Operations Director.
   » Supports faculty in the set up and delivery of clinical skill simulations as directed.
   » Uses and provides support for state of the art task trainers, patient simulators, video capture and debriefing software, electronic health records, web located clinical tools, computerized medication administration equipment, and standardized (simulated) patients in the implementation of clinical skill simulations.
   » Works with the SON Technical Support Analyst and Simulation Specialist for equipment and computer maintenance.
   » Supports the Simulation and Laboratory Operations Director, Clinical Skills Lead, and Simulation Specialist to order clinical and office supplies necessary for delivering simulations all over the Simulation Center.
   » Revises forms as directed with the guidance of the supervising faculty, Clinical Skills Lead and/or Simulation and Laboratory Operations Director.
   » Relays information from the supervising faculty to students in clinical skill courses to facilitate completion of course activities.
   » Meets regularly with the Clinical Skills Lead, supervising faculty, and Simulation and Laboratory Operations Director to ensure that the educational needs of nursing students are being met and skills labs procedures are being followed.
   » Communicates information regarding student practice sessions with the supervising faculty.

   » Proficiency in computer-located software applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to execute a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.

Job Conditions:

Inside working environment, primarily inside lab sessions with frequent standing and going from station to station assisting students with skills acquisition. Conditions outside of lab time requires everyday setup and take down of equipment including cleaning and maintaining inventory and other desk tasks as assigned.

   » Associate of Science in Nursing.
   » Two years of practice in Nursing.
   » Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
