Organizational Unit Overview TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center of the Department of Pediatrics is in accord with this primary purpose. This purpose will be achieved by providing 1) comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children who have been referred because of suspected abuse and/or neglect and 2) providing an educational resource for professionals in eastern North Carolina who provide such evaluations themselves in their own communities 3) Provide child abuse avoidance to professionals, the community, students and 4) provide support for child abuse professionals in the region through promoting collaboration and providing training and guidance to advance child abuse expertise as well as promote the interagency/multidisciplinary response to child abuse.

Job tasks The Family Advocate must provide the following constellation of services: 1. Crisis, mental health, and risk assessment and intervention, and support for children and family members at all stages of involvement with TBCAC 2. Assessment of individual needs and cultural considerations for the child and family to ensure those needs are addressed 3. Provision of education and access to victims' rights and crime victims' compensation and establish peer support with victim advocacy agencies 4. Assistance in procuring concrete services (housing, protective orders, domestic violence intervention, food, transportation, public assistance, etc.) 5. Provision of referrals for specialized, trauma focused, evidence-supported mental health and medical treatment, if not provided at the CAC 6. Linkage to transportation to interviews, court, treatment, and other case-related meetings 7. Engagement in family response regarding participation in the investigation and/or prosecution 8. Active participation in staffing & MDT meetings to discuss the unique needs of the child and family and plan connected support services, ensure the seamless coordination of services, and ensure the child and family's concerns are heard and addressed 9. Linkage to or provision of updates to the family on case status, continuances, dispositions, sentencing, and inmate status notification (including offender release from custody) 10. Linkage to or provision of court education and support 11. Provide continuing case management services through the life of the case with timely documentation in NCAtrak and EHR/Epic including pre and post evaluation follow-up 12. Provide child advocacy services during the CME appointment Family advocate provides clinic support to multiple locations and other tasks as directed by manager. Family advocate will travel to and participate in MDT meetings. The Family Advocate must provide the following constellation of services: 1. CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as its teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and practice. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation None
