Organizational Unit Overview The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is dedicated to providing excellence in education, patient care, research, and service in mental health. Job tasks The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Work Practitioner with practice to work in its Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic. tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: provide individual, family, marital and group psychotherapy, evaluation and assessment of patients' mental status, behavioral and social circumstances, family dynamics and resources; biopsychosocial formulation and DSM diagnosis; emergency treatment, early appointment or routine appointment; perform emergency and crisis intervention for immediate emergency or walk-in patients. Make referrals to other treatment programs when clinically appropriate. The position also participates in the teaching and clinical supervision of medical students, psychiatry residents, and other health professional trainees.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION - NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as it's teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Discapability.

Minimum Education/practice Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by statute or regulation Certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board.

Preferred practice, expertise, Training/Education Masters degree in Social Work with coursework related to the area of assignment. Position requires licensure to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. Specifically, LCSW required.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License or Certification required by the Department Certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board.
