S&ME is seeking an enthusiastic  Civil Engineer  who is ready to make a difference from the start of your career to join our Civil team in Columbus, Ohio, and help us deliver top-notch engineering solutions to our clients.  Whether you're seeking to gain additional practice or grow your career as a recent graduate, this function offers an excellent opportunity.

As a Civil Engineer, you'll embark on an exciting journey in civil engineering, collaborating with practiced professionals on a variety of geotechnical and water resources projects. Under the guidance of licensed engineers, you'll contribute significantly to the creation of critical infrastructure such as landfills, reservoirs, dams, and more. This position offers invaluable hands-on practice in multiple areas of civil engineering, enabling you to develop your skills and make impactful contributions.

Your Day-to-Day:
   » Utilize CAD software to create detailed engineering drawings and plans, such as site grading plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and design retaining walls, culverts, spillways, and channels.
   » Create conceptual designs, conduct engineering analysis of design alternatives, prepare drawings/details, estimate construction costs, and develop specifications.
   » Perform construction site inspections, prepare proposals and reports, and communicate effectively with vendors, internal teams, and external clients.
   » Assist in the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.
   » Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
   » Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.

What You Bring:
   » A Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geotechnical engineering or related field
   » 0-3 years of significant practice
   » Proficient with Microsoft Office and capability to lgain commercial software applications
   » Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification is a plus
   » practice with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
   » Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
   » Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
   » Traveling out-of-town (may include overnight) for assignments as necessary.
   » Working outside of normal business hours when necessary.
