adjunct Director of Operations / Digital Coordinator:KCLUJob description: adjunct Director of Operations / Digital Coordinator Listing description About KCLU: Founded by California Lutheran University in October 1994, KCLU provides educational, informational and cultural programming to Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Along with national public radio programs, KCLU provides award-winning local news and public affairs programming to serve California's Central and South Coasts. Basic Function: Under the direction of the Director of Programming and Operations of KCLU Radio, the adjunct Director of Operations / Digital Coordinator assists with the on-air sound and everyday operations of KCLU and is responsible for superviseing digital content on KCLU.org and the station's social media channels. Representative tasks: » Supports everyday station operations, including importing of everyday program log and merging/editing into Enco DAD automation and playout system, producing underwriting spots, and producing audio promos/updating promo scripts. E » Serves as a local host/newscaster during NPR's news programs, mixes own board, interacts with station's automation system, and operates broadcast equipment. E » Creates, produces and edits everyday content for KCLU.org. E » supervises and facilitates everyday content for KCLU's social media platforms. E » Supports the Director of Programming and Operations in responding during non-business hours to technical/operational emergencies, either remotely or onsite when necessary. E » Provides digital content and broadcast support during nighttime, holiday and weekend news emergencies. E » Assists in producing on-air membership drives and other on-air fundraising days. Serves as one of KCLU's on-air fundraisers. E » Assists in compliance with FCC and other regulatory requirements, including online Public Inspection File, EAS, annual EEO reports and filings, etc. E » Provides digital content support to station colleagues as needed. E » Serves as liaison with key content and technical partners, e.g., NPR Digital Services, Public Media Apps and institutional Information Technology Services (ITS) department. E » Trains new staff in use of KCLU.ORG Content Management System. E » Works with Director of Programming and Operations and campus Facilities to ensure KCLU Broadcast Center is properly maintained and cared for. E » Performs other tasks as assigned. E = Essential tasks Knowledge Of: » Broadcast automation and playout systems, digital audio consoles/control surfaces, and other radio studio equipment. » Digital audio production and editing. » PRSS Content Depot / PRX Exchange. » Remote codecs and meeting software. » Public radio's style of presentation. » News writing fundamentals to create newscasts that are consistent with public radio's commitment to fairness, balance, clarity and thoroughness. » FCC Regulations and significant online filing systems. » Website Content Management Systems (NPR Grove preferred). » Public Radio Apps station tools. » Basic operation of Icecast online audio server software. » Windows operating system, computer networks and servers. » Content creation for online and broadcast audiences. » Excellent interpersonal and communication expertise. » Professional conduct in a business environment. capability To: » Work independently with little direction. » Troubleshoot operator-level faults with Enco DAD, Axia AOIP system, and other studio equipment. » capability to lgain and interpret STL and transmitter Graphical User and control interfaces. » Communicate effectively, confidently and concisely in writing, orally in person and live on-air. » Operate and troubleshoot computer databases, online Content Management System and networked computer systems. » Provide energetic, conversational and credible on-air delivery for newscasts and station breaks. » Participate in station on-air fundraising. » Serve as a substitute host for other programs as needed. » In collaboration with colleagues, devise and execute station marketing programs online and on social media. » Apply an exceptional degree of accuracy to highly detailed work. » Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, during pledge drives and news emergencies. » Manage and guide vendors and other radio station partners. » Interact appropriately and diplomatically with listeners, donors, stakeholders and colleagues in a professional manner. Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Any combination equivalent to: A Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university or four years of professional practice in radio or television broadcasting. practice working with/maintaining broadcast equipment and automation software. practice with online/website content management systems. Preferred Appropriate qualifications: » Public media practice. » practice as a full-time host for an NPR News magazine program and knowledge of optimal break flow. » capability and practice participating in on-air fundraising and capability to pitch with passion and clarity. » practice with Enco DAD or similar broadcast playback and automation systems. » practice with NPR Grove CMS. » Knowledge of digital marketing. » Knowledge of significant FCC rules and California Digital Privacy law.
