Position Summary Conference adjuncts (CAs) are employees of the Office of Residential Education and Housing.
Supervised by a professional staff member, The purpose of this position is to assist the Residential Conferences Management with all operational aspects of the summer conference program and summer student housing. This is an on-call, live-in, paraprofessional student position. Overall job effectiveness is tied to the CAs capability to establish and maintain credibility and good rapport with residents, and University faculty and staff.

Compensation
· Residence hall room. CAs may be assigned roommates on a Temporary basis as part of the Housing and Residential Education Temporary Housing Plan.
· CAs will receive a summer meal plan ($50 per week for each week that summer dining is in Operation) and a $220 per month stipend.
· CAs working on days when the university is closed (Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day) will be compensated $60 per night

The CA is an ?At Will? employee. As such, the employee, or Residential Education and Housing may terminate the position at any time.
CAs who resign from their position or are terminated during the middle of a term and overuse or drains their meal plan before they leave their position may be charged a prorated amount for overuse. Underuse of the meal plan will Transfer to the rollover balance.

Position tasks Customer Service
· Maintain positive customer service relationships with all guests and residents.
· Promptly address requests from guests whenever possible.
· Work front desk hours for Check-in and Check-out as determined by the client and Residential Conferences Management.
· Maintain a clean and organized front desk and lobby space.
· Model outstanding customer service and communication expertise to other student staff.
· Take initiative to deal with problems, improve processes, and serve as a resource.
Room, Linen, and Building Preparations
· Prepare for conference groups by assisting with linen distribution and collection.
· Assist with physical inspections of building space to ensure cleanliness and inspect for damages.
· Report any building maintenance concerns to RCM.
Conference Logistics and Administration
· Complete everyday work and projects in an efficient and thorough manner, as directed
· Convene expectation-setting meetings with conference guests as directed.
· Assist with group arrival and departure. Ensure all keys are accounted for prior to arrival and after departure.
· Be knowledgeable about REC, OSU, Bend, and surrounding area in order to answer questions, ensure the best representation of our facilities and services, and direct guests to destinations.
· Keep accurate records of keys, damages, and building occupancy (including early departures) for billing purposes
Administration & University-Wide Support
· Attend and participate in a weekly staff meeting, regular meetings with your manager, and any other assigned meetings.
· Complete Duty Logs and Incident Reports appropriately and accurately.
· Check email twice a day and respond as requested.
· Check staff mailboxes and hang up advertisements.
· Participate in Conference Guest Check-in and Check-out.
· Participate in all Training and orientation.
· Check out items to residents using the appropriate software.
· Demonstrate timeliness.
· Provide feedback in the appropriate time, place, or manner.
· Facilitate University assessment activities as required.
· Assist with the recruitment and selection of new student staff members.
· Complete basic customer service for Conference Service guests and assist guests with their needs or connect them to the appropriate person in Conference Services.
· Work as support staff during campus and/or Residential Education and Housing Programming.
· Complete other tasks as assigned
Behavior & Crisis Management
· Confront potential policy violations and behavior that is disruptive to the community.
· Encouraged residents to Practice safety.
· Understand, abide by, and support the OSU Student Conduct & Community Standards and all Residential Education and Housing Policies.
· Communicate expectations of appropriate behavior and University policy information to residents.
· Communicate any incidents and student/conference guest concerns to manager.
· Understand and implement emergency response protocol and procedures.
· Refer students and conference guests to appropriate support services as needed.
· Communicate with the professional staff member on call during crisis response.
· Communicate with residents the appropriate action to take in the event of an emergency.
· Provide duty and desk Coverage as assigned. This includes performing lock out assistance and other appropriate assistance as part of the desk and/or duty responsibilities for both summer students and summer conference guests.
· Follow up with students after an incident to express care, support, or concern.
· function model behavior expected of students and conference guests as outlined in the OSU Student Conduct & Community Standards and all Residential Education and Housing Policies.

Meeting, Duty, and Training Requirements
· CAs are required to prosperously complete required Training sessions, including in-person Training prior to the start of each term, supplemental Training during the academic year, and online Training.
· Summer Training may begin as early as June 8, 2024 and lasts until June 9, 2024. All CAs are expected to participate in Training in its entirety.
· CAs may be assigned to duty shifts while classes are not in session, and on holidays when OSU is closed (Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Labor Day).
· CAs are responsible for Summer Transition, which includes being on campus during the last weekend of Spring Term (June 14-16), and the last weekend of Summer Term (September 13-15).

   » Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
   » Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
   » Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
   » High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
   » Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
   » Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
   » Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
   » Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered ?full-time? by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
· Be a current full time OSU-Cascades student or degree partnership student with OSU-Cascades and COCC with a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher. Failure to do so may result in employment warning, probation, or removal from the CA position.
· CAs are required to meet full time student status. Given the time commitment needed to complete job responsibilities, enrolling in more than 16 credit hours requires prior approval from your manager.
· Maintain good academic and conduct standing with both OSU-Cascades and Residential Education and Housing.
· Must have lived in a residence hall or community living environment at least two terms.
· Demonstrate the capability to cultivate relationships with people.
· Demonstrate the capability to respond to conflict.
· Demonstrate an knowledge or open-mindedness to social justice.
· Demonstrate the capability to complete administrative tasks in a timely manner.

Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth Programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

· Demonstrated commitment to diversity and social justice education, initiatives, and Programs.
· Demonstrated crisis management expertise.
· Previous practice in leadership abilities opportunities either on or off campus.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Typically, CAs work in a positive residence hall environments. While there are routine commitments, the CAs often encounter unpredictable and dynamic work schedules. The CA position routinely works indoors and most often during evenings and weekends. Occasionally, CAs encounter the following circumstances:
o covering high-risk medical and emergency situations.
o Experiencing periods of high stress when responding to student crises with a potential to cause secondary Traumatic stress.
o Communicating with members of the OSU-Cascades community and the public, some of whom may be hostile.
o Lifting up to 10 pounds, and rarely up to 70 pounds.
