Commensurate with Qualifications Position Location (City) Greenville Position Type Faculty (Teaching) Job Category Faculty (Physician) Organizational Unit Overview Internal Medicine is a department within the Division of Heath Sciences and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of ten divisions with over 85 full time faculty and 150 support staff members. Each of the divisions has its own specialty clinic. Internal Medicine is home to seven fellowships and two residency programs. In recent years collaboration and funding have come from many national recognized organizations such as the National Institutes of Health, Health Resources and Service Administration, American Heart Association, NC Department of Human Health and Human Service. More locally, we have partnered with Vidant Medical Center Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, North Carolina Biotechnology Center, and the Pitt County Health Department. Additionally, Internal Medicine participates in many pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials. We collaborate with Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Surgery, and the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences within the Brody School of Medicine. The Department of Internal Medicine has a close affiliation with ECU Health Medical Center and serves in eastern North Carolina. ECU Health Medical Center, a 974-bed tertiary care teaching facility, serves as the primary teaching and clinical care venue for an integrated nine hospital hub and spoke system. The School, located near the Outer Banks of North Carolina, is nationally recognized for its educational excellence and commitment to primary care training, and our teaching hospital serves a 1.3 million rural population catchment area. The Division currently consists of faculty members with active educational, clinical, leadership abilities, and research functions. candidates with abilities in education will find a supportive, collaborative environment. Opportunities for clinical, quality, results, and population-located research are available. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center (ECUHMC). ECUHMC is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Job tasks The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM), is now accepting applications for a Geriatrician at the Clinical adjunct Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, adjunct Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level with a tenure-track or fixed-term appointment. Qualifications are the same for tenure-track or fixed-term appointment. This position will provide attending coverage and leadership abilities for our geriatric population in local nursing homes and in our outpatient Geriatric Clinic. Outpatient tasks will also include teaching and supervising residents who are seeing patients in our geriatric outpatient clinic. Candidates may also have the opportunity to spend a few weeks per year providing care on the inpatient academic hospitalist service. On our academic inpatient service, faculty supervise one of our three traditional inpatient Internal Medicine teams or our GIM consult and co-management service. Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Discapability.
