Min Hourly Rate $14.70 (Standard); $13.70 (Non-Urban); $15.95 (Portland Metro) Max Hourly Rate $21.00 (Standard); $20.50 (Non-Urban); $21.50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Technical adjunct for the Fisheries and Wildlife at Oregon State University (OSU). Are you looking for paid research practice in ecology or ornithology? Do you like listening to bird song? Do you want to work on your species identification expertise? The PNW Bioacoustics Lab is seeking an undergraduate research adjunct to help validate acoustic data. Come join the largest acoustic monitoring program in the world, located on OSU's campus! This position entails listening to the audio data collected from over 4,000 acoustic recorders and identifying target bird species. Position tasks The job entails manually validating bioacoustics data collected across the Northwest Forest Plan. The student will listen to 50-100 audio clips that were identified by a machine learning model for each of our target species and calculate the model's precision by marking False Positives (the model said Information technology was bird X but Information technology was really bird Y) and True Positives (the model said Information technology was bird X and Information technology was really bird X).
