Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration required. One to two years of teaching practice at the community college level, entrepreneurship and/or hospitality management practice preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and practice which provides the required expertise, expertise, and abilities.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of types of office and other equipment including computer, copier, calculator, audio-visual equipment, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work; position requires walking, standing, stooping, reaching, crouching, fingering, etc. for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of approximately twenty pounds.

Data Conception: Requires the capability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the capability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes the giving of instructions to students. Includes the receiving of information and instructions from manager.

Language capability: Requires the capability to read a variety of documents, reports, and various books such as various manuals, PCC handbook and catalog, various texts, PCC FACT book, etc. Requires the capability to prepare various documents and reports such as lesson plans, grade/evaluation reports, attendance report, end-of quarter reports, long-range plans, etc., using the proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar. Requires the capability to communicate with co-workers, manager, subordinates, other PCC personnel, etc. with poise, voice control, and confidence. Requires the capability to be conversant in the theory, principles, and methods of effective and persuasive speaking, voice and diction, phonetics, and discussion and debate.

Intelligence: Requires the capability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an broad variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form. Must be able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Requires the capability to apply rational systems such as education (teaching), business administration, etc., in order to deal with problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the capability to record and deliver information and to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to instruct others via effective verbal communication.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the capability to utilize mathematical formulas; add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers; determine percentages; utilize decimals; and determine time and weight.

Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the capability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape.

Motor Coordination: Requires the capability to coordinate hands and eyes in utilizing automated office and audio-visual equipment.

Manual Dexterity: Requires the capability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

Color Discrimination: Requires the capability to differentiate colors and shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the capability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to executeing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.

Physical Communication: Requires the capability to talk and/or hear (talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)

Position Description

Under limited supervision, instructs students in various business, entrepreneurship and hospitality management classes and performs related administrative and recordkeeping tasks. Interacts with and assists students in various areas. Reports to the Instructional Coordinator, Entrepreneurship and Hospitality Management.
Teaches assigned courses (day, evening, and online) in business, entrepreneurship and/or hospitality management. Will be responsible for teaching 18-21 hours per week. Performs related administrative and recordkeeping tasks such as evaluating textbooks; preparing learning objectives, preparing lesson plans, course syllabi, handouts, tests, etc.; gathering resources for class; ordering and arranging audio-visual materials for class; conducting class; conducting critiques of students' work; grading assignments; maintaining files; etc. Prepares and/or completes various reports and forms related to classes including attendance reports, end-of-semester reports, grade reports, etc.

Performs various student-related tasks including advising students, assisting students with class registration, counseling with students, assisting students with career and study expertise, writing letters of recommendation, etc. Completes various student forms such as withdrawals, registration, drop/add, and credit by examination.

Remains active in professional organizations and activities. Keeps abreast of newest research and technological advances relative to the teaching of business, entrepreneurship and hospitality management courses by reading professional journals and attending seminars, conferences, meetings, etc.

Maintains good working relationships and communicates information within the Department and with all departments/divisions on campus.

Receives, reviews, processes, files and/or submits a variety of documents and reports such as attendance report, grade sheets, evaluation forms, professional development forms, various other forms, memos, and general letters of correspondence.

Serves on various College committees and organizations and attends meetings as required. Assists part-time instructors and substitutes for absent instructors as needed. Assists in program review/audit. Assists with preparing departmental objectives.

Will be expected to pursue the development of self-supporting courses/grants as a means of additional funding. Will be responsible for researching the expansion opportunities for the program into the global markets. The individual will assist in the development and delivery of program outreach opportunities targeting both the private and public sectors.

Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, typing documents, entering data into computer, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, distributing documentation, or processing incoming/outgoing mail; performs light housekeeping tasks connected with setting up, cleaning, or maintaining classrooms and work areas.

Helps other employees or departments as needed.

Provide assistance with global education initiatives.

Performs related tasks as directed.
