The Chair of the department is also the Chief of Surgical Services for the hospital. The department includes 36 full-time faculty members in the sections of: transplant surgery, plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, general and bariatric surgery, and trauma and acute care surgery. Information technology also includes clinical and basic science research labs. The 70+ employees in the department support our clinical, education, and research programs. The transplant program at East Carolina University is dedicated to providing state of the art care to patients with end stage organ disease in eastern North Carolina. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center. Job tasks The Department of Surgery is seeking a full-time Administrative Support Associate to provide administrative support to the Division of Transplantation and Surgical Immunology. This Division office is comprised of a division chief and two transplant surgeons, as well as approximately 25 employees who work as a cohesive team to make up the Transplant Program. Job tasks include - preparing annual reports and evaluation documentation for the faculty and coordinating yearly travel, lectures, seminars, publications, awards, grants, societies, memberships, and continuing medical education; initiating purchase requests, organizing and maintaining patient schedules, patient medical records, and schedules; maintaining a filing system to record all items of business conducted within the unit; interacting with physicians, faculty, staff, patients, and other medical and administrative staff effectively; scheduling and coordinating meetings; transmitting and clarifying policies and procedures to new faculty and staff as well as to persons outside of the division; and possessing an overall expertise of the division policies and procedures, office techniques, and general expertise of the Department of Surgery and being able to apply this expertise to problem solving and responding to most questions and inquiries from other offices and organizations.
