Commensurate with qualifications Position Location (City) Greenville Position Type Faculty (Teaching) Job Category Faculty (Physician) Organizational Unit Overview The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.4 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Traumatic Brain Injury, General Rehab, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Neuro Rehab Units. The Center's 75-bed inpatient unit is one of 18 Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs in NC that is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at ECU Health. ECU Health Medical Center is a JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is partnered with ECU Health Medical Center (formerly Vidant Medical Center). ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The ECU Health system is also comprised of eight (8) other hospitals all over eastern North Carolina Job tasks The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at East Carolina University seeks a board certified/board eligible Physiatrist to provide care in its inpatient CARF-accredited units (spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, pediatric rehab, general rehab, and neuro rehab), in departmental and affiliated outpatient settings, and to provide consult services, as needed. Opportunities exist for performance of musculoskeletal care, musculoskeletal ultrasound, amputee care, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, spasticity management including baclofen pumps, Botox and phenol injections, interventional pain management, EMG/NCS, wound/hyperbaric medicine, and other clinical services. The candidate will participate in the training of residents, medical students, and allied health students. Research is supported and is a valued component of the position. Fixed Term or Tenure Track position available. At the title / rank of adjunct Professor or higher. Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the UNC Optional Retirement Program (ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). Minimum Education/practice MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification.
