Like the island chains for which we are named, our projects are individually distinct but part of a greater whole in which built spaces – and those who live in them – connect organically with the natural world. We are pursuing a Project Architect to join our team who brings integrity, persistence and a strong creative vision to all aspects and phases of project design and development. This is a full-time position for a designer with a minimum of 8 years of practice and a degree in architecture or urban design. As part of a small firm, the position offers project ownership, including overall project management and production drawing. The prosperous candidate will work in collaboration with the firm's principal architects as well as clients and external stakeholders – outside project managers, city/county planning, contractors, suppliers - to ensure projects are executed with excellence. Requirements » A bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or urban design » Minimum 8 years of significant work practice, including high-end residential » Licensed architect (preferably in CA) or pursuing licensure » ARCHICAD ® or equivalent software proficiency » Familiarity with zoning, building code analysis, due diligence, permitting, design review board requirements, plan submittal, and plan check corrections » Strong practice in construction administration Desired Attributes » capability to assemble a consultant team and manage multiple and complex project requirements » capability to create project specifications and plan drawings » Excellent graphic expertise and capability to execute design analyses and layouts » Skilled listener, note taker, and communicator » A strong personal design aesthetic and curiosity for exploring new concepts Great-to-Have » A passion for craftsmanship and practice making things by hand income and Benefits » Range $85,000 - $115,000 annually; final income decisions will be made located on the extent and relevance of the candidate’s education and practice » Hybrid on-site (Ventura, CA) and remote, with capability to travel within Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles counties for client, stakeholder, and site visits » Paid vacation and holidays » 401K » Emphasis on work-family balance: 40-hour work week with occasional exceptions; flexible hours/ scheduling » Opportunity to grow professionally in a collaborative, creatively challenging team environment on California’s “Gold Coast”.
