Job Summary This is an Internal Employment Opportunity.

This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Education Program adjunct 2 position for the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families in the College of Health at Oregon State University (OSU). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately 11 months from the appointment begin date.

The Education Program adjunct 2 (EPA) position will work as part of the Early Learning Systems Initiative (ELSI) and the Hallie Ford Center (HFC) in the delivery of program curricula, coordination of program elements or projects and assisting with the assessment, design, implementation and evaluation of the program. This position is responsible for developing programs and collaborative community partnerships independently, initiating program changes, and providing lead work to lower-level staff.

The Early Learning Center initiative at Oregon State University (OSU) serves the early childhood educator workforce in Oregon. The Center meets a critical need by planning for, developing, and offering continuing, high-quality training that addresses the full range of competencies necessary to teach young children and support families. The EPA will be housed in the Hallie E. Ford Center for Healthy Children and Families and be affiliated with the School of Human Development and Family Sciences in OSU's College of Health.

This position will work under the guidance of Dr. Megan McClelland who is directing the Early Learning Systems Initiative and conducting research on school readiness in young children. The EPA will be responsible for assisting project staff with tasks related to the Center and research projects, including data collection, data entry, and communicating with teachers, parents and community partners. These projects are funded through grants with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and the U.S. Department of Education.

The Hallie Ford Center for Healthy Children & Families promotes a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to research and outreach. The mission of the Center is to promote healthy children and families by facilitating high quality research, translating research into practice, and building the capacity of families, service providers and communities. The Center is organized into four research cores devoted to the following areas: Healthy Development in Early Childhood, Healthy Development for Youth and Young Adults, Healthy Lifestyles and Obesity avoidance in Children and Families, and Parenting and Family Life. The organizational structure of the Center includes the Endowed Director and Core Directors. Core Directors are tenured faculty members who provide leadership abilities to work groups comprised of multidisciplinary teams of faculty with compatible research interests. Key Responsibilities 40%: Data Collection and Training
   » Assist with data collection and training needs including local travel to area schools to recruit participants, collect data, assist with logistics related to child development and early education trainings, which requires the employee to maintain a current, valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
   » Assist with data tracking and monitoring during data collection time points.
   » Administer standardized assessments in classroom settings to young children.
   » Provide lead work to undergraduate research adjuncts.

20%: Communication with Participants and Community Partners :
   » Communicates information to teachers, parents, and to community partners (phone calls, emails and in-person trainings).
   » Promote and market the HFC and the various center programs using mixed-media in conjunction with a faculty member i.e. Writing news releases, articles, and public service announcements; giving public presentations in person, radio, or television; and designing and/or maintaining website. Develops and maintains educational content for displays and exhibits.
   » Assist HFC staff and leadership abilities with management of the HFC
   » Maintain the ELSI, and HFC social media accounts and assist with creating posts for other HFC related accounts.
   » Encourage and participate in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging for participants and stakeholders.

20%: Data Entry and Coordination :
   » Enter data collected from the assessments directly into the ?EpiData' software.
   » Assist with reports and presentations.
   » Collect, maintain, and organize data, electronic and written files for research projects.
   » Collect, maintain, and organize data for the HFC

20% Program Assistance and Coordination
   » Asist with mailing and printing and event planning
What We Require
Associate's Degree and three years of work practice (paid or volunteer) supporting community programs that serve children, youth or adults OR Bachelor's Degree and one year of work practice (paid or volunteer) one year of which must be working in youth development programs, adult education, teaching, program delivery or related functions OR Five years practice in a field related to the tasks of the position AND a high school diploma or equivalent. AND Demonstrated oral and written communication expertise. Demonstrated skill to work with diverse audiences. Demonstrated skill to use computers for word processing, data management, and communications.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must prosperously complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
