Job Opportunity: Production Engineer:VPM Media CorporationJob description: Production Engineer Listing description Our Production Engineer is responsible for deploying and maintaining all video equipment used by our TV Production team, including our production truck, field kits, and studios. This individual must demonstrate practical expertise of the systems and signals used in the broadcast industry (cameras, switchers, computers, intercom, cabling, lighting, etc.) and be comfortable troubleshooting equipment in fast-paced, live production environments. A team player with good communication expertise and a strong sense of organization, our Production Engineer ensures the crew is prepared for each event and is expected to navigate and solve for technical issues as they arise. VPM is Virginia's home for public media, headquartered in Richmond to serve Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. The VPM News team produces award-winning journalism from our NPR affiliate with distribution across digital channels to more than 2 million people in VPM's coverage area. ?As an independent, nonprofit service, we strive to create and serve a more informed public. Job responsibilities: » Maintains technical facilities for VPM Production Studios and Mobile Production Unit (MPU). » Travels with MPU on remote events and provides engineering support. » Evaluates and improves system operations for production facilities. » Performs camera shading tasks for productions. » Works with production crew to ensure smooth operations for events. » Repairs damaged equipment, as needed or sends for repair when necessary. » Evaluates and maintains software packages to keep systems current. » Implements live feeds from remote locations to studio or web streams. Appropriate qualifications: » High school diploma or equivalent, college degree in related field preferred. » Minimum 6 months practical practice in television production engineering. » capability to lift overhead and carry up to 50 pounds. » capability to work on ladders or in elevated spaces. » Flexible to work unusual hours and at remote locations, including overnight travel, as necessary. » Possesses a valid driver's license.
