This is a fulltime, 9-month, 3-year, renewable position to begin August, 2024. This position reports to the Director of Culinary Arts. The Culinary Arts program is housed in the Department of University Studies along with the Bachelor of Science in University Studies and the Associate of Science in University Studies. Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of about 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 176,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN. Primary tasks and Job responsibilities: • Teach five (5) classes per semester (or the equivalent) in Fall and Spring. • Assist the Director of Culinary Arts with coordination and oversight, curriculum design, student advising, recruitment, retention, and program certification. • The assignment may include evening and weekend hours, as well as teaching at all APSU campus locations. expertise, Skills, and Abilities: • Effective communication skills • Familiarity with instructional technology • A commitment to continued professional growth • A availability to work with other faculty members. • A strong commitment to teaching and learning, working with diverse populations, and growing the College's mission and vision. Physical Requirements: » Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/o a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Required Minimum Appropriate qualifications: Required Minimum Qualifications • Earned Bachelor's degree or higher in Culinary Arts or a related field from an accredited institution (related field may include hospitality administration [leadership abilities], business, nutrition, food science, or others as approved by the Office of Academic Affairs); • Demonstrated skills in the Culinary Arts including a minimum of three (3) years significant work practice; • Particular practice in areas such as baking and pastries, international cuisine, gourmet foods, garde manger, cake decorating/pastry arts, dietary food preparation, and/or desserts. • A background in the areas of sanitation, nutrition, food production, baking, specialty cuisine, and catering. • A background search will be required of the prosperous applicant.
