Minimum Qualifications

   » Master's degree in child development, Family Relations, or Early Childhood EducationORa master's degree plus 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
   » Must have LMS practice.
   » Must be able to effectively teach both face-to-face and online classes.
Special Requirements:
   » Possession of and capability to maintain a valid driver's license.
   » The capability to work autonomously as needed to stay on task, complete tasks, instruct a variety of students from an assortment of academic backgrounds within a classroom space, and communicate effectively with students ranging in age from 14 years old to 100 years old.
   » The capability to create clear and transparent processes and directions for students.
   » The capability to lgain and develop online activities, resources, materials, and gradebooks in an LMS system that will enhance student success and completion.

Position Description

Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing ACA course instruction and regular instruction in the Early Childhood Education program for day, evening, weekend, and online classes as needed for student success and completion. Instruction includes developing and updating courses taught in a classroom, laboratory, and online learning environment.

The ideal instructor for this position will possess the capability to teach face to face and online, including online synchronous instruction; the capability to effectively instruct high school students who are taking college classes; have the practice with and availability to use Open Education Resources (OER) and/or Affordable Education Resources (AER); have the availability to learn, stay up-to-date, and put into action current student instructional needs including video lectures, online student practice materials, interactive online learning lessons, immersive/augmentedtechnologies, etc.; have the availability to globalize the curriculum and be involved in campus international activities.

Teaching tasks for this positioninclude organizing semester coursesfollowing departmental guidelines, creating course materials (tests, handouts, lectures, slides, assignments, rubrics, models, activities, group work), determining a fair grading system, setting up materials on Moodle (grade book, tests, lectures), setting up policies compliant with departmental and school regulations, holding student conferences as needed, creating lesson plans, selecting textbooks and/or O.E.R.s and developing assessments that will evaluate student performance located on student learning results.

Instructors will keep attendance using Self-Service, complete FTE and progress reports as required, correspond with students and managers through e-mail in a timely manner, submit grade and attendance reports as required, and work with students registered with Disabilities Services. Instructor should deal with student issues professionally and report unresolved issues or classroom incidents to their managers. Instructor will serve as an advisor in the Early Childhood Education programs, register students, and maintain regular office hours on the Martin Campus.

Required to be on campus at least 30 hours a week, with some tasks and responsibilities leading to more than 30 hours on campus at various times during the semester. The other 10 hours of the 40-hour work week is expected to be completed either on campus or at another location with the expectation of this time being spent on developing face-to-face, blended, hybrid, and/or online course materials, resources, and activities, grading assignments, keying in grades and attendance, collaborating with colleagues, business and industry partners, local education agencies (LEA), instructors and colleagues from other institutions, in order to ensure quality and rigorous instruction that will assist with student success and completion.

Instructor will serve on a variety of college committees and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other instructional activities including, but not limited to, those that directly impact recruitment, retention, and graduation. Instructor must adhere to all division and campus policies and procedures.

Instructors will complete all compulsory training in regard to FERPA, Title IX, and Campus Safety.
Essential tasks and Responsibilities
   » Provide classroom and/or laboratory instruction to students and supervision to students on work-located learning or real-world practice assignments.
   » Prepare course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, handouts, tests, student resources and activities; develop and prepare supplemental materials to enhance lessons.
   » Develop, prepare, and grade assignments identified to evaluate student performance and located on student learning results and competencies.
   » Select textbooks; gather resources for class; conduct class; conduct critiques; plan field trips, secure guest speakers, etc.
   » Investigate, vet, and utilize OER and/or AER content as appropriate that meet curriculum standards and will assist in reducing student textbook costs.
   » Serve as anadvisor to students; provide individual academic assistance to students outside of the classroom as needed; maintain regular and consistent face to face and/or virtual (for online classes) office hours for students at times that will benefit student success.
   » Communicate effectively with student to ensure knowledge of course materials, expectations, and attendance; reply to student emails and Moodle messages within 48 hours or less; return phone calls to students and campus employees within 48 hours or less.
   » Collaborate with various campus entities for student success initiatives.
   » Prepare various reports related to classes including beginning of semester reports for FTE reporting and Financial Aid, forms for Early Alert and tutoring referrals, and end-of-semester reports for attendance and final grades, as well as accrediting reports, etc.
   » Utilize technology to enhance classroom presentations; when appropriate, develop laboratory assignments to provide hands-on practice.
   » Participate in curriculum and course development, evaluation, and change located on data from advisory committees and workforce partners.
   » Utilize data to make informed decisions about changes to curriculum, pedagogy, textbook decisions, and other course and program specifics that will positively affect student success while maintaining rigor and quality.
   » Stay abreast of new developments and changes in assigned academic fields; participate in staffdevelopment programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
   » Collaborate with Division Chair to develop and facilitate program advisory committee membership and annual meetings.
   » Serve on and participate in a variety of college committees and other institutional activities and programs.
   » Attend required faculty meetings.
   » Attend graduation and participate in the ceremony.
   » Complete various student forms such as withdrawals, registration, drop/add, and credit by examination.
   » Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs and/or accreditation requirements.
   » Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures that relate to required teaching area.
   » Serve as mentor to adjunct faculty in assigned academic area.
   » Maintain expert competence in accreditation and local and state regulatory standards.
   » Supervise and evaluate students at off-campus internship sites.
   » Participate in pre-registration and registration activities.
   » Compose, prepare and distribute reports, correspondences, and other documents.
   » Prepare students for the job market, transfer, and/or continuing education.
   » Request and order supplies and materials as needed.
   » Fill in for other instructors asneeded.
   » Assess the relevancy and impact of lesson content and teaching methods; revise and improve lesson design; evaluate and select textbooks and other course materials; request books for the Library.
   » Serve as a liaison between students and administration.
   » Assist in the recruitment and retention of students.
   » supervise and participate in field trips as appropriate.
   » Participate in campus committees, meetings, recruitment activities as a part of the required 40-hour work week, whether the meetings occur on or off campus.
   » Maintain established on campus everyday schedule.
   » Engage in and prosperously complete professional development training as assigned by the Division Chair, accreditation bodies, Chief Academic agent, and/or Human Resources.
   » Other tasks as assigned.
