Job Summary The Career Development Center is seeking a Director of OSU-Cascades Career Services. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

This position is located in Bend, Oregon.

The Director of OSU-Cascades Career Services is an essential member of the Career Development Center (CDC) and OSU-Cascades teams. The Director reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost of Student Affairs and the Career Development Center (CDC) in Corvallis and has a dotted line to the Senior Associate Dean at OSU-Cascades. The Director provides leadership abilities over the Cascades Edge career program, including plans, systems, programs and performance standards to effectively deliver comprehensive career services, employer relations, and experiential learning, at OSU-Cascades. this function is a key contributor to the CDC's vision of a university that is dedicated to undergraduate and graduate student success, not just at OSU, but beyond. The Director is a part of creating an ecosystem of intentional and vibrant career education and employer relations efforts that engage students at every step in their college career so that they are empowered to pursue their unique future goals.

The Director will supervise the operations and programs necessary for the quality and delivery of career development within the strategic plan of OSU-Cascades and the CDC. The Director is also a champion for forming collaborative relationships with external audiences, including employers, alumni, and affinity groups to advance the recruitment of OSU-Cascades students. this function supervises initiatives focused on the student-facing aspects of the strategic plan. The Director will build broad productive partnerships aimed at delivering career education, including experiential learning, to all programs that serve students at OSU-Cascades.

The Director supervises the career development team at OSU-Cascades comprised of adjunct Directors who provide programming, support and resources to students such as teaching courses, class presentations, workshops, panels, and webinars. The Director provides strategy and guidance to the team as they carry out their work at OSU-Cascades, including training, teaching and equipping college leadership abilities, advisors, faculty and students.

this function works collaboratively with the OSU-Cascades leadership abilities team as well as the CDC leadership abilities team to create opportunities for students to engage with employers and alumni in their fields. The Director is responsible for building relationships and creating consciousness among corporate and community organizations with regard to the benefits of hiring OSU-Cascades students and graduates. The goal of this position is to ensure the success of the Cascades Edge career program and especially to increase connections between employers and students through job and internship postings, recruitment activities and events, the post-graduate placement rate, and hiring activity. The Director is responsible for external relations delivery strategies, including but not limited to, direct responsibility for all phases of building and maintaining relationships with state, regional, and national employers, alumni, parents, and other external stakeholders. The Director will work closely with colleagues within OSU-Cascades and CDC External Relations team and across the university to steward partnerships with employers and alumni in order to connect students to them through events and activities that provide real-world practices such as career fairs, networking events, and information sessions.

This position maintains student confidentiality and performs a wide variety of tasks that require tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, discretion and flexibility.

Key Responsibilities 35% leadership abilities and Supervision
As part of the CDC leadership abilities team assists in developing long term vision and strategies, as well as providing leadership abilities and direction for the Cascades career development team. Determines and leads the vision and strategy for Cascades Edge and OSU-Cascades specific initiatives through the Career Development team. Builds and maintains strong partnerships with OSU-Cascades leadership abilities and collaborates with them to support student career success - including best covering the needs of undergraduate, graduate, Ecampus and underrepresented students. The Director will build and maintain relationships with other critical partners to effectively lead efforts that accomplish the vision and priorities of the CDC.

Leads, coaches and supports for the team of Career Development Team at OSU-Cascades in pursuit of the OSU-Cascades and CDC's goals and objectives. Provides direct supervision for professional faculty employees. Interviews and hires staff; determines training needs; prepares position descriptions; plans, assigns and reviews work; evaluates employee performance; resolves problems and grievances; initiates disciplinary actions as necessary to improve performance and alignment with position and organization expectations.

35% External Relations
Develops, implements and participates in programming and events to cultivate relationships between OSU-Cascades and Career Development Center and employers and alumni. Collaborates with OSU Alumni Foundation to connect with alumni in Central Oregon. Proactively identifies local, regional, and national prospective employers of OSU-Cascades students. Develops and engages in an engagement strategy for outreach to employers. Collaborates with OSU's Economic Development and Industry Relations unit to ensure a coordinated approach when engaging with employers.

Provide leadership abilities and direction for on campus and virtual external partner events related to recruitment and professional development. Works with employers to develop strategies for enhancement of employer presence and brand consciousness among OSU students.

Represents OSU-Cascades and the Cascades Edge at recruitment events held on and off campus to educate employers on the benefits to hiring OSU students. This includes providing leadership abilities and education to employers on varying aspects of recruiting Oregon State students which may include the process to hiring international students, how to create inclusive practices around recruiting and hiring candidates, and integrating student job shadowing and mentoring opportunities.

Works closely with the CDC on all processes and protocol related to the career management system including the job and employer approval process, staff and student approvals, employer troubleshooting, and training and education OSU-Cascades staff and employers.

20% Oversight of Career and Experiential Learning Initiatives
Provides oversight and support on career and experiential learning opportunities for students, particularly focusing on students who are first-generation, high financial need, students of color and international students. Provides strategic support and guidance on planning and executing workshops led by Career Development Team, including class presentations, panel discussions and networking opportunities with employers and alumni. Programming topics may include resumes, CVs and cover letters, career tools and resources, interviewing, internship and job preparation, graduate school strategies and more. This is NOT a direct one-on-one student advising position.

Builds relationships and collaborates with cross-campus programs to effectively support and engage students with career development and experiential learning. Supports with the development of content-specific resources for career development and experiential learning and in support of programming - including handouts, webpage resources, career assignments, etc., in partnership with marketing and design partners.

5% Assessment
Assess overall effectiveness and results of strategies, ensuring continuous improvement. Assess individual program components and revise as needed to best support program goals and integrate with other institutional initiatives.

5% Other tasks as assigned
The Director will work with the Executive Director, Senior Associate Dean, and direct reports to provide leadership abilities and coordinated management of programs related to the strategic initiatives of OSU-Cascades and the Career Development Center.

Complete special projects, assist with major events, and participate on committees, taskforces, and workgroups. Engage in continuing professional development endeavors to ensure continued excellence of expertise and knowledge related to the function.

   » 3-5 years of practice in career development, recruitment, or student affairs (or practice in related fields that would provide the appropriate expertiseet)
   » 3 years of managery practice
